The apparent breakdown is unlikely to have any immediate impact on consumers. Ticketmaster’s pact to sell tickets for Live Nation expires at the end of 2008; the company has a separate deal to sell tickets for Live Nation-owned House of Blues clubs through 2009.

It's a perfectly valid point. I remember when the Ticketmaster fees were $.50 and quite frankly I don't understand why the fees increased. Exactly what has Ticketmaster improved on? It's not like they have more outlets available, in my area there are far less today than there were 25 years ago and the population has doubled and the venues have increased ten fold.
Is it because of the online presence? Odd that online sales are driving down the price of everything but tickets sales on Ticketmaster. Is Ticketmaster taking too big a cut? I would say definately yes.
Interesting article but I would like to know one thing. What the hell is he talking about? Ticketmaster only charges $4 in fees for each ticket plus shipping? Ticketmaster charges a different fee based on the venue and I have never seen it less than $7.95 per ticket and it is usually much more. And how about the $2.50 charge for EMAILING you a ticket? What total crap.

the $2 in printing fees to use my own paper and ink is why I always tell them to mail me my ticket. Or I go with Will-Call
And don't forget the "convenience fee" gets more expensive as the face value of the ticket increases. I assume it costs ticketmaster more to print a ticket with a higher face value.
