Best Concert Location
Hi!
I am relatively new to this forum but my girlfriends and I have been to 12 concerts. We started out in Cincinnati (9 years) but have seen Jimmy in San Diego, Houston, Las Vegas, and New York. Because we are spread across the country we have made a Buffett concert our annual get-together. We are starting to plan next year's trip. We miss tailgating (our last 2 concerts have been in Las Vegas and New York) and are looking for suggestions as to the best tailgate locations. We would appreciate any advice fellow Parrotheads are willing to share. (Please excuse the poor grammar and/or typing. My husband and I are on are second bottle of wine for the evening. I'm sure y'all understand!) :wink

Seriously, good tailgating, friendly people, and wonderful concert venue at Star Lake near Pittsburgh, PA.
And welcome to BN!

OF THE ONES I'VE BEEN TO, it would be a very tough choice, but it would be either West Palm Beach or Alpine Valley (which Jimmy ALSO said was his favorite).
Atlanta was nice,
Cincinnati was nice,
They're ALL nice, but Alpine is probably the easiest to get to for me, so I guess that would be the one I'd choose.
Honolulu is nice, but it's a very small venue (Waikiki Shell), and all on-street parking. No tailgating, unless you go down the street to Kapiolani Park. (Which is PROBABLY what we'll do next week).

I really did enjoy that part of the AC concert. We tailgated on the beach outside the convention center and it added so much to the party atmosphere. Of course, a lot of the crowd, by our seats, were SYKBH crowd. But we really couldn't care less about pholks who decide to sit through a JB concert....their loss!!!LIPH wrote:And you're at the beach. Not too big, not too small -- just right!!

I also like GW and Alpine (but haven't been to Jones Beach).CaptainP wrote:Seriously, though....
The tailgate debate tends to narrow down, usually, to Great Woods vs. Alpine Valley.
I prefer Alpine, but both are fun.
Jim - sign me up for your tailgate next year!

I went to Jones Beach and 2004. I do plan to go back next year if there is a show but I thought that for such a beautiful location the tailgate was a little weak. Just my opinion.LIPH wrote:And you're at the beach. How much better can it get for a Buffett concert?Jollymom21 wrote:Ditto!!LIPH wrote:Jones Beach![]()

I'm hopeful he'll do the Midwest Tour like he did this year again. If so I'll travel it.
I only know Vegas and Chicago first hand.
Vegas deserves a nod though because it is a destination concert. The majority travel to be in Vegas for the show. There are over 100 BN peoples on board for 10/20 already. Most everyone there "Gets It".
It's cool because the town caters to the Parrothead dollar. Parties everywhere and all day. There is no traditional tailgating but there is a block party at Margaritaville and partioes hosted by MGM and Hooters with drink specials, Trop rock, and great people.

The Parrot Dice Lounge kinda like a mirage. Here today and gone tomorrow. You should stop by and say hello when visiting Chicago on tour.
