I thought it was great movie, especially if you're a Beatles fan. I loved all the allusions they threw in (When I'm 64, She Came in through the Bathroom Window, etc.). I could have done without the Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite scene, but overall a good movie.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

Didn't realize it was out yet. i remember seeing the preview and my first thought was that someone was doing a remake of "hair" just by what I could pick up on the storyline.
But it looks awesome and I'm looking forward to it.
Take me for what I am, a star newly emerging.

the plot itself wasn't the greatest ever, but if you're a Beatles fan, I think it's worth it for the music.moog wrote:The trailer was cool. But from what I am hearing it's a mess.

Not to spoil anything, but if you want to see what songs they play, you can check out the Deluxe Version of the Soundtrack on iTunes, which has each song in order of it's performance in the movie by the actors who sang it.Wino you know wrote:I'll definately see it when it comes here.
There haven't been many things in life since the time I was 12 that I've loved more than the music of the Beatles.
Still have ALL of their original L.P.s & 45's, including the "Let It Be" box set, which was only available in Britain.

Just watched this movie last night on pay-per-view (On Demand).
Awesome. Mesmerizing...
If you like the Beatles, you'll like the movie. Great tribute to the 60s, the Beatles, the hippie culture, the drug culture, the Vietnam War protest. Not really tribute, more like a stream of conciousness musical/dance.
Even has the Blue Meanies in it. I want to see it again. Oh yeah, I can!

Re: Across the Universe
Did you get the Maxwell's Silver Hammer allusion? Sadie told Max, "I don't know you, you could have killed your aunt with a hammer for all I know."jonesbeach10 wrote:Anyone see it yet?

Don't forget there is also a part where Maxwell is hitting a fan (rotary oscillator not ardent admirer) with a hammer.carolinagirl wrote:Did you get the Maxwell's Silver Hammer allusion? Sadie told Max, "I don't know you, you could have killed your aunt with a hammer for all I know."

Also, I didn't get the When I'm 64 one... gonna have to watch it yet again!
AND didn't realize until I read the above review that Prudence was -------... (BN edit). Then watching her looking at the blond cheerleader, wondered how I missed it... Thought she was just jealous of the cheerleader's boyfriend. Also, she idolized Sadie and bumps against Lucy in the bar, and Lucy looks at her funny. Later, Lucy says, "Do you get it about Prudence?" Whoosh, right over my head.

Yeah, Paige, He made a great skid-row bum in the subway... singing with with his hands twitching... reminded hubby of John Belushi doing Joe Cocker.pbans wrote:This is one of my favorite movies ever.......I love it.
