Okay...I ain't no Sunny Jim White or Jim Morris or John Frinzi...but I am, by Gods, playing Parrothead music, so I thought I'd start a thread so that I could invite y'all out to my shows. And if you're not in the Bay Area, or wherever I'm playing on a given weekend, there's always my Website. (see the .sig) I have CDs, good songs, and an increasing amount of cool stuff.

I've got some good shows coming up. Here's info on the next two.

Friday 9/28, 8:00 PM: I'm being featured with three other songwriters in the round at Red House, in the Palm Court Shopping Center at the corner of Botelho Drive (1667 Botelho) and South California Street, Walnut Creek CA. Red House has been promoting themselves as a focal point for music in the Walnut Creek area, and I feel privileged to be featured in this showcase. Cover $8 (free for Red House members). For more info, see http://www.redhouselive.com or http://www.myspace.com/redhousemusic.

And plan ahead: On Saturday October 6, 8 PM, I'll be teaming up with my very talented friends "Gypsy" Jack Van Breen and Kathleen Nelson for a one-of-a-kind show at Mission City Coffee Roasters, 2221 The Alameda, Santa Clara CA. Cover $10; mention BuffettNews, and get in two for the price of one!

Not only will each of us be sharing some of our own music, but we've also been rehearsing as a band! And it sounds excellent! This will be the first time *anywhere* that my songs have been performed live with a band. Don't miss it!

I look forward to meeting some BNers at these shows and others, and I also look forward to seeing some of the ones I already know again!

Thanks, everyone, for the good wishes! :) They help!

We had a great time last night in Walnut Creek; I was definitely a balance to some of the more serious artists there. The venue is wonderful - if you're ever out that way, check it out.

Next Saturday in Santa Clara, and open mike stops this week probably at McGrath's in Alameda on Tuesday night and Mission City Coffee Thursday night to promote Saturday's show.

As Jimmy would say, "I love my (weekend) job!" :pirate:

Partying with a purpose in the Bay Area

Hiya,

I know a musician named Jannel Rap. Her sister, Gina Bos, disappeared
after a gig in Montana about seven years ago. Jannel got very
frustrated attempting to get assistance in locating her from those
whose job it ostensibly is to provide said assistance. Rather than
staying frustrated, Jannel decided to start publicizing all those
missing persons who don't get the headlines - the ones whom nobody
outside their immediate families seems to care about.

Her organization, GINA for Missing Persons (http://www.411gina.org),
sponsors a nationwide "Squeaky Wheel Tour" every year around this
time, the anniversary of Gina's disappearance, to draw attention and
publicity to missing persons in different parts of the country. This
is my second year playing gigs as part of the SWT, and I'm honored to
be part of this.

Last year, ten people were found as a result of the publicity
generated by Jannel and the artists performing SWT gigs. But there's
lots more out there.

I'm doing two shows this year that are connected to the SWT. I hope
you'll consider coming out, picking up some flyers of the individuals
we're hoping to locate, and helping out. The shows should also be
hella fun.

-- Wednesday Oct 17, 8:30 PM, The Bistro, 1001 B St. Hayward: Not
only is this a Squeaky Wheel Tour show, but I'd also like to offer it
as a "pre-concert" show for Jimmy on the 18th. I'm featuring two
missing folks from Hayward at this show, and we'll have flyers
available.

The Bistro is a comfortable brew pub with a wide selection of craft
brews, some good food, and live music just about every night. It's my
first bar gig in a while, so I'll be breaking out the Jerry Jeff
Walker and a few other songs I just can't get away with in
coffeehouses. http://www.the-bistro.com

-- Friday Oct 26, 7:30 PM, Espresso Garden, 4720 Meridian Ave. San
Jose: This will be another GINA/Missing Persons show. I don't have
the info on my missing person for this show yet, but will soon.
Espresso Garden is a very comfy coffeehouse with a nice back room. I
had a fun show there in August, and it's a place worth revisiting.

I hope you'll consider coming out to one or the other of these shows.
They'll be good fun, full of our favorite "tropical attitude" music,
and working for a good cause.

And if you're someplace else in the country, go check out a SWT show near you!

Sail on,

Loren
