I'd like to start a blog to share just with close friends/family, mostly as a way to communicate gluten-free news and information for people who feed my family. As many of you know, my daughter has Celiac disease which means she can't eat anything with wheat, barley, rye, or oats. Ever. On the surface it is quite simple, but is challenging at times especially when eating out or going to family events--which are often food-centric. When you add in the skeptic factor (We constantly have family members--ok, 2 family members--tell us that "just a little" won't hurt). So I tell them to eat "just a little" rat poison and tell me how that goes.
So here is my question. I'd like to password-protect the blog so that only people who have the link to the blog and the password can read it. I'm trying to be as sensitive as possible about publishing information about my kiddos to the world on the Internet. While I understand no system is failsafe, something with an inherent password feature would be good as opposed to using the htacess (whatever that means). I have some, but limited, web publishing knowledge but the more WYSIWYG something is, the better.
So far I've found http://www.wordpress.com and they have a free password-protect feature.
I was hoping to use blogspot, though (simply because my favorite blog site, postsecret.com is hosted through blogspot), but I am open to suggestion.
I should also add I don't and won't do the MySpace thing.
Thanks in advance.
Mallory
