Eating At Airports

We've traveled a bit in our years, and have found some pretty decent places to eat in airports. And yeah, some really bad places too.

I travel so much sometimes I forget where I am and what airport has the good places to eat. I spent about 20 minutes trying to find the French Cafe in Las Vegas where I had a fantastic breakfast a few weeks earlier.... I think that French Cafe might be hiding at DIA... I can't remember. But the food and the Late` was FANTASTIC

Pappadeaux's Seafood Kitchen in Houston is over rated, IMHO.

For what it's worth, my favorite all time airport for food, stores, wireless access and an over all great vibe is Portland, OR. They even have live music

(its the Keesler AFB flight lunch that is ordered for our flights.... EVERY flight!)

I enjoyed Harry Carays 7th Inning Stretch at Midway Airport a few years back. Great burger. Miami has a great Cuban place as well.

I try to spend as little time as possible in the airport, so having a great meal is not a priority for me.

I never eat at airport restaurants.
I'd rather take the money I'd spend on a cheeseburger & beer and buy a Cadillac Escalade instead.

The Pappas Mexican restaurant at HOU was good. Most of the time, I avoid airport food for the reasons Garry mentioned, but they were worth the cost. (about the same as a Chipotle)

Tuesday morning-I'll get up at 4:00 AM, have a breakfast of four ham, cheese, mushroom, onion, and bacon omeletts, hash browns, 2 English muffins, four slices of bacon, coffee, and orange juice.

That should tide me over until I arrive in Honolulu at 8:30 PM that evening, where, after my friend picks me up, it's straight to Zippy's.

Tequilaria (sp?) in the Cleveland airport makes some good margaritas. Other than that, I got nothing.

MMM - I was going to list this one as a good one

- but on reflection I guess I DO remember service was pretty cr*ppy and shrimp salad "ok but not great". I think the fact I was on way (mostly gratis) to Hawaii for first time may have something to do with the good memory!

Bergohf's in Chicago isn't bad - agree with other's comments - airport food in general - not great, definately expensive but ok in a pinch.

Everything escapes my mind this moring.

Milwakuee airport has killer Bloody Marys (I did not have on, friend did on our way out)

Chicago's Chili's are not so bad. But I tend to eat in Concourse C's little food court - surprisingly clean!

American Bandstand had a good breakfast - but I cannot remember which airport.

There is a lovely bar and restaurant in Amsterdam's, it was on the second level all dark wood. Really good bugers!

Same with the one in Tampa.

The Jersey Bar (I think it's called) in Terminal A in EWR isn't that bad either for drinks.

Yeah, but I think it's more for the location than the food.

My favorite some bar at JFK I was at years ago while sending a friend off to the Peace Corp. Not that there was any food, but $1 more they made your drink a double.

The AB bar in Terminal A does that too.
