Jimmy Sues Six Flags

So from what I have read, Jimmy has cornered the market and now owns the word "head" and anything associated with it? So what do we now call that object on top of our neck? Our cranium? "Man, I've got a craniumache" is a bit of a mouthful. So is "I'm gonna slap him upside the cranium". It just doesn't flow. Some may start saying that Jimmy's cranium is getting to large to fit through the door.

Whether or not he instigates these lawsuits or is even aware of them (initially) is really beside the point. He has the power and ability to stop this nonsense...and I sure hope he steps up and does so.

Parrothead and Carrothead are too similar, in the eyes of JB's attorneys. And really they sound alike, especially if you don't enunciate too well.

And has been stated, if you don't defend a copyright, you may just lose that copyright. Imagine the ramifications if EVERY parrothead club in the world had to change their name because they lost the copyright to "Parrothead".

Other "-head" words really don't apply, unless they are VERY close in spelling/sound to the copyright word....

I seriously doubt that ANY of these supposed copyright infringements would significantly affect the empire known as Jimmy Buffett. I guess we should all be congratulating him for being so shrewd to copyright someone else's term. Lord knows he's laughing all the way to the bank.

Defend away, Jimmy...it's your right. But beware...soon you're going to be known as the guy that sues everyone, instead of the guy who sings that Margaritaville song.

I am a cynic when it comes to articles being written, and this is no exception. I'm taking this with an extreme grain of salt. I just do not buy it.

With that being said, I would be disappointed to learn that Jimmy is not adequately compensating the man that coined the term. Very disappointed.

But Six Flags rep Wendy Goldberg told us: "I'm not sure how the concept of children in foam carrot hats is going to be confused with significantly older Hawaiian shirt-wearing, margarita-swilling Parrotheads. Clearly imitation wasn't what we had in mind!" She says there are no plans to discontinue the club.

With the personal attacks in the Six Flags' rep's statement, I'm glad they're getting their butt sued and I hope they lose. I'm sick of people thinking Jimmy Buffett fans are nothing but drunk, tacky tourists.

The typical question asked is, "would a reasonable person be confused that this was associated with Jimmy Buffett or his business interests?"

The answer is no.

I would not be surprised if Buffett's lawyers dismissed this.

I mean there was a difference between the lawsuit he had a couple of years ago with the "Cheesburger In Paradise" restaurant chain, I mean that's was pretty much required because he was going to sell the name to create a chain of restaurants.

(I wouldn't be suprised if this was a post from the "Onion" quoted elsewhere because it sounds like something they would do, if you read ANY of their stories you'd have to realize that they have the power to make things like this seem real... and if so they caught quite a bit of us on the uptake this time )

Carrotheads are Buffett fans that actively buy and drink carrot juice simply because he mentions it in CIP and on the YTBT album. So I think there is a problem here. I think the kids should call themselves bugheads.

The press release at the Six Flags site is dated May 4, 2007, so it either took some time for the legal dept. to find out about this, or they did a lengthy investigation before filing the claim.

I'm gonna need the official "Carrothead Club" hat for next year's tailgates.
