MGM seating near the MIX board??

Post by Pencil-Thin Mustache »

Does anyone have experience viewing shows at the MGM? What are the sections to avoid near the mix board?? Any advice would be great, thanks.

obviously for the money your going to pay, you want to get as close to the stage as possible. your just wasting your money and your time being willing to sit back there. if you can get the cheaper tix, then you would want to sit up in what jimmy refers to as the lawn section. if you dont have tix yet, go to the mgm box office at your first opportunity and see what they have.
also try ticketmaster and craigslist. other people have suggested waiting until the show starts, to buy from any one with extras, because you may be able to buy at less than face value. good luck.

You know I've never been to a Vegas show... I'm really more interested in hearing the music than worrying about the view. However I'm sitting in "L4" (it was the cheaper of the two seats available at the time...) and I was wondering exactly how "bad" the view in those areas is.... About the only think I have this to compare to is the second pavilion of Tinley Park (so probably based on that I'm likely "closer" to the stage...) Would I have to worry about "obstructed view"?

Thanks,

Avoid the back of the floor (like being next to the mixing board) as it is a flat floor, unless you are an NBA allstar center, you will be looking at the video monitors all night (look at the bottom of my post it is a panorama of the MGM at the 2002 concert)

Ok, this sort of explains the view... but I'm guessing this was taken from something in the "second" balcony so my seat is likely to be a little closer.

Only think I couldn't tell is where exactly is the stage supposed to be in this picture? :D

Left center of the picture. That big blue banner is what will drop when Jimmy takes the stage (or in this case what dropped when Jimmy took the stage since this concert has already happened! :D)

I was under the impression that the seats by the sound board were elevated some!

I think all the floor tends to be bad except for right up in the front sections.

The other seating is so much better.

Yes you all are correct...the Margaritaville "banner" is the stage (left side of picture) the dark area at the back of the floor is the mixing board...note that the mixing board is elevated....not sure about the seats araound it...Santa maybe able to answer that question as he has been there.

Yes this picture was taken from the 200 level about 1/3 of the way up in section 211 (I think...It's hard to remember....we've sat in quite a variety of places there....from 300 level to dead center floor, 10th row.... Only disapointment was in the 300 level...Jimmy couldn't see our banner until he was leaving the stage....we didn't get a shout out that time... :( But he did see and we were there!!!!

I may have heard different or understand it differently but isn't the best sounding seats in the arena those seats by the mixing area? The reason being, when they alter or change the sound, they make it sound the best from where they are at. If you sit by them, it will sound better than if you are sitting, say towards the side.

While I agree that the video screens may be what you will look at quite a bit, I think being on the floor where people will stand up and dance, as opposed to the seats where some will stand and some will sit (I've gotten yelled at numerous times for standing up and dancing around from people sitting behind me), plus the benefit of hearing the show clearer than anyone else will make it still a very great experience

I've never been yelled at for standing and dancing anywhere during a Buffett show at the MGM. I can't say the same for attending a Buffett show in San Jose or Denver or Charlotte though. If you happen to be in the seats behind me, you have two options, stand up and dance or sit and watch me dance!

My seats will be in the right corner section across from the mixing board off of the floor, and about 10 rows up... I'd guess that's probably a decent seat considering... and it should be MUCH better than Tinley Park.

I have sat next to the mix board a few times for shows, and had no problems and could see just fine! I am not a tall person either!
