Disappointed - Las Vegas Cafe

Post by itsmyjob »

Ok Heads -

I know the situation. Yes I know that this location is not owned directly by Bubba, by I must say, something needs to change.

I was here on business today (short overnight meeting), and then ventured over to the Cafe for a 'rita or two, plus a bit of shopping.

The bartenders, as usual, were clueless about most things Buffett, other than - oh, he is here this week! Great - anyone could read the paper or signs on The Strip.

What really bugged me, beyond this, was that when I went into the shop to drop some money on provisions, I was faced with a guy that truly had no idea about anything Buffett. I asked him if he had the Live at Fenway CD (still missing from my collection), and he was clueless. I asked how long he had worked there - oh, several months he replied. Crap! It was right there on the shelf but he had no idea! Also thought that all the live CD's were all the same and that all the shows were the same. Went so far as to so say that he didn't even like Buffett. Why are you working here?!?!?!?

Such a bummer when so many of us work so hard to spend a bit of our cash on something that makes us so happy, yet we get someone like this in the middle of the situation. This is not the first time in Las Vegas something like this has happened to me, but I have held my tongue in the past.

I just hope that closer to home the Glendale staff will be a tad more educated and tactful.

Bummed with two blown out flip flops,

MJ

Sorry for the experience MJ....... but it's a business. They (usually 'kids') are just trained to sell. It's no different than going to Best Buy or Circuit City and looking for for assistance in something electronic. It is what it is, sadly.

I agree that after a few months of work an employee should be familiar with what is in stock and where to find it.

But it is not necessary for an employee to be a fan of Buffett to work at Margaritaville.

However, they should be made aware that the majority of the customers are fans and should be treated with respect and enthusiasm.
Some people never find it, some only pretend
But me, I just want to live happily ever after every now and then.

It would s*** to be a Buffett fan and work at a Margaritaville restaurant. How could you afford tickets to the shows? And who would run the store when one did come in town, if they happened to score tickets? I don't go there expecting the people to care who Buffett is, they are just trying to survive and there could be jobs that s*** worse, I'm sure.

I hate to say this, but

a) if it was on the shelf, how did you miss it?
b) Especially if you are working behind the counter and listening to the CDs constantly, I'd bet all of them kinda run together. Shoot, they run together for me, and I am actually on one of them. :D
c) why are you expecting the actions of a clerk in a store to make you happy? If you got what you wanted to buy, at a price you wanted to pay, you won. Expecting the clerk to be as big a parrothead as you, that's somewhat unrealistic.

Dont' expect them to be PH's at that one, when I was there most of them were not parrotheads, but I didnt expect them to be, they were nice, served me food and drinks, took my cash for some merchandise, I taught them a little about being a parrothead and we had a great time, what more could one ask for?

Amen...the KW Margaritaville is definitely nicer, IMNSHO.

OTOH, I also like KW better than Vegas, so maybe it's a reflection of the local consciousness.

As other folks have said, there's only so much you can reasonably expect from a clerk. But you'd think management would have trained 'em a bit better so they at least recognize the name and know when Bubba's coming to town.

I guess the folks who can do math are all working the casinos. :)

By no means am I justifying the clerks actions, but can you imagine if a 'true PH' worked there? If it were me, I would talk to each fellow PH for hours about our shared obesession. Might not be good for sales.

This is what I thought at first, then I realized that I would probably get sick of it after a while.
