Conch Republic Rum

Post by PetalMel »

I don't hang out here enough to know where to put things. I KNOW I KNOW, poor excuse, but that's my story :P

Anyway, anyone ever had Conch Republic Rum; either the light or dark? Just curious as to what you thought. I bought a 1/2 gallon of each (had it special ordered in Michigan just because they could get it. Shoulda known what I was getting into when it was just over $15 a half gallon.....)

Anyway, I think it is terrible, but I'm willing to sacrifice some diet coke in order to have great bottles to store my Capt. and Bacardi... :)

What are your stories on this "lovely" product???

BTW, please move this to where it belongs. I promise that I will do better next time... As a peace offering, here is a toast to whatever ails you..... \_/ \_/ \_/ \_/ \_/ \_/ \_/ \_/ \_/ \_/ \_/ \_/ \_/ \_/ \_/ \_/ \_/ \_/
well, ummmmmmm, yah, I guess I better come up with something witty to put in this spot since everyone is reading it.......

Anyone who shows up with a gallon of rum that they are willing to share can post anywhere they want, if you ask me.

Of course, I'm very easy to get along with

well, in my opinion, this isn't the kind of rum you share with friends. Maybe you load up some jello shots with it, but it isn't something I would graciously share with folks I would want to stay they liked me :)

thank you for the move. Like I said, I wasn't sure where to post this and figured that the "squeeky wheel gets the grease" as they say.

I've tried the dark, it was OK with diet coke, I'll buy it again next time I'm in KW, 8 weeks from now.

I tried Pyrat for the first time last night and liked it. Has a taste of honey and vanilla in it, so you can sip it on the rocks (with or without a lime wedge) or mix it into a rum punch or a cola. I would recommend it.

It's a very common well rum in Key West, specifically the light rum, even though it isn't made in the Keys. Go figure.

Its pretty harsh stuff, just fair even with cola, didn't like it at all!! I like GOOD rum on the rocks and that one didn't even come close, I did like the label though, pretty cool
I discovered this one a long time ago on the the island of Bequia while sailing in the Grenadines........

Are we supposed to believe Aniversario is good despite the fact it's being flanked in that picture by two bottles of Corona? :D

My two favs... no wonder we always got along so well.. the 12 yr Appleton was my "Ernesto" rum last year!

And yeah, like popcornJ said - if you order from the well in KW.. it's that stuff, and yes it is crap! Haha

it's funny because Conch Republic Rum is made by Cruzan. Go figure :)

Thanks all for your input. It's nice to know that I'm not alone in thinking that it isn't all that great. I will keep the bottles though and refill them with better rum just cuz I think they are cool :)
