Movie Thoughts - Into the Wild

I was really looking forward to seeing Into the Wild and got to see it on Saturday.
The book was so compelling. The movie was so so, I thought.
There was about 30 minutes that could have been cut and I just didn't think that Emile Hirsch (despite huge sacrifices on his part) helped portray "Alex Supertramp"'s persona.
Hal Holbrook was great. Vince Vaughn was the same guy he is in every movie. The hippy couple was good.
It was weird. The book was moving and the movie kind of seemed like it dragged on.
