Jimmy Buffett was nominated for a CMA Award in the category Musical Event for the song "Hey Good Lookin'" with George Strait and Alan Jackson. He lost out to Tracy Lawrence featuring Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney with the song “Find Out Who Your Friends Are”.
Mac McAnally (guitar) also received a nomination in the Musician category, but Jerry Douglas – Dobro took the award.
Jimmy recevied a CMA Award in 2003 for Vocal Event of the Year for the song "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" with Alan Jackson. See list of Jimmy's other CMA Award nominations.
