Aren't all the talk shows in reruns because of the writers' strike or is this an old show?

I couldn't tell! She mentioned the writers and it seemed live.

I'm oblivious while I'm working on other stuff. Just heard it mentioned and was glad I had the tv on.

RE-RUN OR NOT. (and ETP, no recorder here)

This sounds like pretty current stuff.

LYLE LOVETT AND HIS LARGE BAND stop by to perform a song off their hit album "It's Not Big It's Large." Then Lyle and I have an announcement to make.

I think Ellen tapes a few days in advance, so this show might have been in the can before the strike started. I'm assuming her show is honoring the strike, the late-night talk shows are but I'm not sure about the afternoon shows.

Russ Kunkel drumming...little solo at end.

Not the usual guys in the band I don't think.

Lyle will be the house band for the TBS Special Ellen is doing soon: November 18.

The bass player is Leland Sklar. He's a sought after session player who has been in several touring bands over the years. I believe he has a web site that list all the stuff he's done.

What song did they do?

Russ Kunkel has toured with him for the last 3 or 4 years. He and Leland Sklar were JT's rhythm section in the early days.

Looks like "Ellen" and other sydicated shows are still taping new stuff.

Also, Lyle Lovett will be on Ellen's Really Big Show, a variety special on TBS on Nov. 19.
The show, which will tape...in Las Vegas, will feature Mary J. Blige, Barry Manilow, Lyle Lovett, Wayne Newton and Sheryl Crow. Other guests include comedians Rhys Darby and Sean Cullen, singer Ryan Shaw and the African Children's Choir. The script for that show was written before the strike.

I also find it amusing that country Music has all the fake cowboys. Lyle Lovett is one of the few True Cowboys in Country Music. The Man who wears Armani suits on stage and rarely wears a Cowboy Hat.

I just checked the tv guide and I think this is coming on tonight at 8:00 C.T.

MONDAY: For one night, Ellen DeGeneres will be channeling Ed Sullivan during "Ellen's Really Big Show." Taped in Las Vegas, it's a 90-minute throwback to the variety programs of yore, featuring appearances by Mary J. Blige, Sheryl Crow, Barry Manilow, Lyle Lovett, Wayne Newton and others. 9 p.m., TBS.
