Dish vs. Directv
We are dropping our cable and going with satellite. Anyone have any pros and cons between Dish network and Directv? I havent heard much to compare the two. Thanks!
I am no longer fighting my inner demons. We are on the same side now.

i switched to dish...sorry Penny...i could bundle my phone...computer...cell and TV into one cheaper package ....but i did like Directv....the only thing i don't get now is the NFL package....that i do miss....but rarely watched until late in the season...and the way that the Dolphins are playing...i saved the 250.00...which is a lot of money ....but i could get the other packages if desired!!!SMLCHNG wrote::D

Dish Network has Radio Margaritaville if that would be a plus for you.
It did not help with me though.
I had it for a week and went back to Comcast because I liked Comcast's HD channels better. Plus you need a seperate antennae to pick up HD locals on Dish. I don't know about Direct. This was a year ago and may not be the case now though. My brother loves Dish!

I switched from DISH to DirecTV after about the 100TH phone call to Dish because of a bad receiver......I called once a week for about six months trying to get it fixed or replaced and they never did......
We've had direct for about a year.....the one problem we had was taken care of within 24 hours....and I didn't even have to drop Wayne or Penny's name!

Since I don't have anything HD in this house, I don't really know the in's and out's .. but I'm pretty sure it's just the receiver has to be one of our HD devices.sonofabeach wrote:Dish Network has Radio Margaritaville if that would be a plus for you.

possibly the only reason we don't have Direct now...which I always had in OK...but DISH was already here when I moved....
I hate how DISH has to d/l sometimes when you want to see what's on other channels and their remote controls sux, not user friendly either...appears to me their equipment is not the quality as Direct...
customer service is a complete nightmare !!

on a tv related note, yesterday the lamp in my Toshiba DLP 47 inch widescreen went out after two friggin years. AND I had the lamp set on low up until a couple of months ago. I knew it would eventually happen but dang...this quick? I still love the tv and thank goodness I bought extended service plan from Best Buy. They "said" they will be here to fix it early this week. The 32 inch in the bedroom is killing me.

There are few, if any, companies that don't have room for improvement!!SMLCHNG wrote:I've been a 'customer' on the phone with our customer service at times. Let's say there is room for improvement on a couple of calls I had to make.Moonie wrote: customer service is a complete nightmare !!

I'm sure I could manage. I got sucked into the HD thing because of football. Funny thing about the big tv here is that I'm the only one who took the time to master it. My wife and son still come to me play a dvd and sometimes they screw up the channels. It's because there's a remote for the cable box that is supposedly a universal but it does not cover all of the features so I have a "remote platter" on the table with about four remotes in it..SMLCHNG wrote:![]()

You'd never survive here, Michael!! Our largest is 27" and NOT a HD or flat!
I admit I did kinda freak when I found out about the lamps going out yesterday. Vickie said I acted like it was like armageddon
