Why Not Put A Song or 2 From the Anguilla DVD on VH1
Somebody posted that according to Billboard Magazine, Live in Anguilla has sold 16,000 copies.
I would think that as winter draws near, adding one of the songs from the DVD to VH1's rotation would be a natural choice. There are so many great songs on the DVD and it really captures what Jimmy's music is all about. Wonder if the folks at Mailboat have thought about this.
I hope the CD/DVD is a big hit so Jimmy does more shows like this. It was amazing!

I don't want to live on that kind of island
No, I don't want to swim in a roped off sea.
Too much for me, too much for me
I've got to be where the wind and the water are free.

That's not that many. But I don't think it has anything to do with not being on VH1. I know I didn't buy it and probably won't, just like I didn't buy Wrigley(I received it as a gift) because it doesn't appeal to me that much. I wasn't there. I'd much rather have the c.d. than the DVD. I do appreciate them as gifts though, just won't spend my money on it.

I'm a tad confused ... Live in Angulla comes with two CD's ...I wasn't there. I'd much rather have the c.d. than the DVD. I do appreciate them as gifts though, just won't spend my money on it.
Wrigley didn't have that part, Anquilla does. Just a clarification.

I bet the low sales volume has something to do with the RM shows that everyone records. I now have over 100 CD quality Buffett shows, so the thought of buying this new one never entered my mind. Even with the visual element. Of course, if he played a lot more deep cuts and not predominantly 'beginner Buffett' tunes, I may have had a different reaction.

Elm,
Theer are plenty of "deep cuts" on the Anguilla CDs/DVD.
L'Auteur De Rocher
Distantly In Love
King of Somewhere Hot
Chanson Por Les Petits Enfants
That's What Living Is to Me
When Salome Plays the Drum
They Don't Dance Like Carmen No More
Desparation Samba (though it is played at a lot of shows - as well as it should be when Jake's with the CRB)
Treat Her Like a Lady
Domino College
Carnival World
In My Room (which Jimmy did great)
I don't see how anyone who is a Jimmy fan doesn't buy this CD/DVD. Some amazing stuff.

But can you get the c.d. by itself. I would listen to it way more than I'd watch it. And again, I didn't buy Wrigley either. It was a gift. and if someone gave me his new one, I'd gladly accept it as well.indymiller24 wrote:I'm a tad confused ... Live in Angulla comes with two CD's ...I wasn't there. Hmm... well the format that you buy "Live in Anguilla" in the store is first off, in the CD section, and second, it is packaged as a CD case. It contains two CD's (play them at home, in the car, anywhere) and one DVD in the package.OystersandBeer wrote:But can you get the c.d. by itself. I would listen to it way more than I'd watch it. It's definitely marketed as a CD with a DVD extra with it. Sure, it's a little more expensive than a regular CD, but I got it for $17 or so at Best Buy last weekend.
Not a bad deal, especially for all of the "deep-cuts" that you get live on it. And i realllllllly love the songs at the end of disc 2 from the "beach concert."
I think my only wish would to also get "Tonight I Just Need My Guitar" on the album. All in all though, great CD, and with the right sound system, I can honestly say the mixing in the tracks make me feel like I'm standing right in front of the stage.
apologies for the soap box!

Oh, well that's a bit different. I thought it was a DVD and would run me about thirty dollars. That definitly changes things. But still hoping I get it as a gift rather than buy it.

Same here. I got Wrigley as a gift and I've only watched about a third of it. Watching a concert on my TV just isn't that interesting. I'd rather be able to listen to it while I'm doing something else.OystersandBeer wrote:But can you get the c.d. by itself. I would listen to it way more than I'd watch it. Hey.
Well, I have all of these songs in plenty of live versions, so it depends what your definition of a 'deep cut' is. Doing a quick search on my computer alone (not counting all the shows I have backed up on CD's) I have:
L'Auteur De Rocher - 4 live versions
Distantly In Love - 3 live versions
King of Somewhere Hot - 2 live versions
Chanson Por Les Petits Enfants - 5 live versions
That's What Living Is to Me - 7 live versions
When Salome Plays the Drum - 2 live versions
They Don't Dance Like Carmen No More - 1 live version
Desperation Samba - too many to count live versions
Treat Her Like a Lady - 2 live versions
Domino College - 2 live versions
Carnival World - 7 live versions
In My Room - 4 live versions
My favorite shows are when he does the acoustic sets, like LuLu's and the 3 or 4 shows from here on Long Island. Those have great set lists. Awesome stuff.

Oh, BTW, if anyone needs any of those acoustic shows, as always, hit me up via instant message at DoctorDuk and I'll be glad to send the mp3's over. I use AOL Instant Messenger, because it allows you to send entire folders at once. It's great (as Tony the Tiger would say).
