I am not doubting you but I can't find the story on either site.

My question would be for who? NY will never take him back...Boston...there is a better chance of the Jets making the playoffs....Houston or the Rangers are the only teams I could see wanting him.

It wasn't on the ESPN website. It was reported briefly on ESPNNews. The link above should still be good.

How often is that updated? The Mets needs and luxuries were a few pages down and they had Ruben Gotay at 2nd base (they resigned Luis Castillo) and Lastings Milledge in RF plus no catcher.

He updates the page often with rumours and the like. The needs section can lie fallow for a while.

Overall it's a pretty good site. It and Metsblog are regulars for me.

They held a press conference to announce the signing of Eric Gagne. At this presser, Gagne was given a uniform with WISE'S number on it!!!!

They forgot to tell him they were cutting him until the next day....

For the record, he has been awful ever since he hit a batter in the head with a pitch. He is now afraid to pitch inside.

I read that. But from what I understand he was pretty good prior to that. Hopefully he can recapture that. I think, with this signing and the Register Rule 5 draftee, that the Mets are thinking of moving Heilmann in a deal for either Santana or Blanton.

Rick Peterson's done pretty well taking pitchers left for dead and turning them around with the Mets (Maine and Oliver Perez come to mind). If there's anyone that will get him to pitch inside, it's Peterson.

The Rangers sent young pitchers Edinson Volquez and Daniel Herrera to the Reds for outfielder Josh Hamilton.

I think this is a good move for the Reds

are you kidding me? hamilton is a 5 tool player, a future star now that he has kicked his drug problem...and the reds trade him for a couple of minor leaguers????????

terrible trade.

terrible trade.
What do the Reds need most? outfielders or pitching? I believe good outfielders are easier to find then good pitchers. Look Edinson Volquez's numbers

14-6 record and struck out 166 batters in 144 2/3 innings in three minor league stops last season. Has a (sinking) fastball at 97 mph and a changeup at 83.

And don't forget Jay Bruce is (hopefully) ready to play in the majors next year.
