Most Inspiring Person of 2007

Post by Triathlete-Parakeet2 »

http://www.beliefnet.com/mipy/2007/vote.html is having an online contest to vote for the most inspirational person of 2007. We Hokies are trying to get April 16 victim and a close neighbor of mine, Proffesor Liviu Librescu, to win this contest. All you have to do is vote, no siging up or anything. This man was a hero, sacrificing his own life by holding a classroom door shut while his students could escape. Sadly, a bullet penetrated the door and ended his life that day. Lets make the man proud. I have seen the crazy dedication and generosity of BN members before, so I know yall can help. Thanks!

I voted yea as well.

Althought the tug for Wesley Autrey was tough. I live and NY and followed that story close and was proud for him. He's a good and deserving man. Unfortunately, the good professor sacrificed his life. That is the ultimate anyone can do, and without a dobt shows the love we can have for each other.

I think that sums it up pretty well. He got my vote and I'll vote again tomorrow.
I skimmed through this year's list and the last couple of years, and there are some pretty amazing stories in there.

Truly was our night to win

I probably would have voted for Professor Randy Pausch from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh who is dying of cancer and gave the great final speech on his last day in class.

Since he wasn't on the list, Professor Librescu got my vote.

Although, I am annoyed that Angelina Jolie is currently second.

Looking at the list, they are all deserving, but some greatly more than others. The guy from NY, Wesley someone, is a great example of someone doing something and being selfless, risking his own life to save that of a stranger, and it would be hard to vote against him.

Except for the prof. Voted for him.

Voted and I passed this along to my Hokie child to pass to all his friends!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"
