Hark the herald angel sings . . .?

I was walking through our local Meijer (Grocery/Department Superstore) yesterday to buy stuff for dinner and pick up some prescriptions and low and behold and island sound with christmas flare . . . .
I was hearing Christmas Island by Jimmy Buffett in my grocery store.
I don't view Jimmy Buffett as being universally accepted so I was surprised to hear him in the store. I was even more surprised to hear a few people humming along. I know perhaps a few others have sung this tune but this particulare version was Jimmy's.
I just thought this was a kind of cool moment and thought to share. I had that smirk on my face like I just duped the general public into listening to something that they would normally pay no mind to. It wasn't my doing at all but I knew who it was and what he represented.
And for that reason it just felt like Christmas - I was secretly sharing joy of something I love with a few hundred others unwittingly.
Merry Xmas All!

Really Cool!
Just this morning a customer called me and said she had been hearing Christmas Island on the radio. And everytime she thought of me because JB is usually playing in the background whenever she calls.
So I've pushed PLAY on the Christmas Island CD again this morning.
HO HO HO and a Bottle of Rum to y'all!

I love the Christmas Island CD. I wish that JB would make another Christmas CD.

JB's version of Jingle Bells is played in the Dollar Tree store here.

I've heard Jimmy a few times at Meijer! Mostly after 8 or 9 p.m. when our local store switches Muzak channels (or whatever they use). Seems like they turn up the volume too, but maybe the store isn't so busy and it's just less background noise. Mostly standard stuff like Come Monday, etc., but if I want the deep Buffett tracks I can go to Trader Joe's.

I can't believe I am requesting more covers from Jimmy, but another Xmas CD would be cool. I do enjoy overplaying christmas island during the season.
I also enjoy Peter Mayer's 2 christmas Cds. They are a little more mellow but just as enjoyable. Ummmm...Club Trini Christmas would be really cool too.

And it would be great if the new Christmas CD would include Christmas in the Carribean -- wonder why it was not on the Christmas Island CD to start with!

Glad to see others are hearing this elsewhere. I got 2 for Xmas last year and i kept them both. Each one is in a different part of the house for my listening pleasure.
