C'mon...so many diehard parrotheads on this board and no one remembers this tour???? Perhaps I should run for historian of BuffettNews.com!
This may be the tour in question. In late 1989/early 1990, Jimmy did a small theater tour with a few other guitarists (Mac may have been one of these guitarists). The set was made to look like you were in Jimmy's living room.
The tour made a stop at the Beacon Theater in New York. In the middle of the show, Jimmy ordered several pizzas for the crowd. When the pizzas arrived, he literally threw the boxes into the crowd, splattering many with pizza. He then announced "send your dry cleaning bills to Irving Azoff"

Thanks beantownfan. I've only been going to shows since the 90s. Now, I remember hearing about pizza, but thought that was earlier.beantownfan wrote:C'mon...so many diehard parrotheads on this board and no one remembers this tour???? Perhaps I should run for historian of BuffettNews.com!

I wouldn't have known most of the songs back then..
Jimmy also mentioned that if you heard there was somebody that looked like him on stage with Rockin Dopsie at Tramps the night before, that was somebody else.
Jimmy also plays He Went To Paris dedicated to Eddie Balchowski, his old friend, who had passed away that week. He was more than the clean up guy at the Quiet Knight in Chicago, and never lost his sense of humor through all the tragedy he had been through.
From Buffettnews:
Jimmy's Notes:
Chicago is where I truly cut my teeth as a performer, working as the opening act at the Quiet Knight. I opened for a variety of people from Neil Sedaka to Bob Marley, and when I got frustrated with the crowds, the old one-armed clean-up man with the big German shepherd always consoled me. It took me a few days of asking to find out Eddie was more than a janitor. He was a gifted painter and a wonderful pianist. We would stay up after the club closed, and he would sing me songs from the Spanish Civil War where he had fought as a member of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade against the Fascists. Eddie Balchowsky was indeed an inspiration. He was larger than life, and as Mark Twain said "he'd gone out into the territory". This song is a tribute to his spirit.

They also played a show at the Syria Mosque in Pittsburgh with the living room set. The Mosque is gone, but I was at that show. The same deal....Pizza's for the crowd to begin the second set and it appeared to be real domino's delivery kid that they brought on stage. He appeared to be pretty rattled by the whole experience, but Jimmy asked the crowd for tip money. I'm pretty sure it was the best night the kid ever had.
It was a great show and the stage set up was one of Jimmy's best ever. I believe there were only about 6 dates on the tour, so those that caught it were few in number.

Now I've got a terminal daydream,
That's something you'll never know
I keep it right here in my backpack, mon
And I take it wherever I go.

I was at the show at the Beacon also. One of the best Buffett shows I've ever been to. I think he also threw some bags of junk food out to the audience - to hold us over until the pizzas arrived! Ed Bradley was indeed the pizza delivery man. Most of the pizza boxes were sealed but I remember one opened and pizza went flying everywhere. I was glad I was sitting in the front mezanine! There was a TV set on in the living room and you could see reruns playing of Andy Griffith and I Love Lucy.
I think some of the set was recycled at the Recession Recess tour in '92. I think I remember a door and window being used for that tour.

I remember people walking in and out of the "living room" all night and I vaguely remember others playing guitar on some songs but don't remember any names. I remember a guitar tech or someone bring a guitar onstage and then sitting down in a chair and looking at a magazine and then getting up and walking off stage.

My brother and his new non-Buffett wife were at this one... it was the last time he saw a Buffett show, after many years of going often, dating back to the 70's at the Quiet Knight in Chicago.
He always describes how it was supposed to be an intimate show, but there was a "heckler" sitting behind him, drunk, and constantly standing and yelling out "Buffett!!!" throughout the show. I guess Jimmy commented to the guy a couple times trying to get him to chill... probably a "I remember my first beer" in there somewhere. Ruined the whole thing for my bro.

Wow.
Great stuff. I wish I had seen one of these tours!
In the Michael Utley interview on Time After Island Time, he mentioned the Living Room set. He said JB wanted to do more things like this.
I had no idea what he was talking about and never asked him about it to stay on task.
Now I know. Thanks!
