A new reason to hate Ticketmaster
Check this out:

According to Ticketmaster, they are not making enough money off of the few lucky people who can purchase tickets and pay their fees so they are now going after ebay by partnering with the NFL. I don't think Buffett and other concerts are far behind. Usually when companies compete consumers win except when tickets are involved.

I believe Stubhub charges the seller 10% and the buyer 15%. Expect the same. What a racket!Dezdmona wrote:The company profits on the secondary sales by charging the seller and the buyer a percentage of the resale price
Charging both ends. The price you pay to ensure it's a legit ticket.![]()

Which is why Jimmy will cut his tour down to select dates in certain locations in about 3 years and spend the bulk of his time at the casino on the Gulf Coast.

From what gather this is more NFL (including teams) then Ticketmaster doing. The NFL knows there is a huge market that they get no part of, the resale of the tickets. This way the NFL is getting money from both ends, the original sale and then the resale. Sure Ticketmaster is making money, but the NFL wanted to do this and are using Ticketmaster. From what I read last week they also looked at other ticket services such as tickets.com. NASCAR tracks are also getting into this now. This past year a friend bailed last min on a race. The last thing I wanted to do was waste time at the track selling his ticket so I put it up on the tracks Ticketmaster page for resale. Worked great. Sure it sucks having to give money to TM and the track, but it doe come in handy. The Patriots already have a ticket resale policy in effect for season ticket holders, Not 100% sure how it works, but I think the only people who can buy the tickets are those on the season ticket waiting list.

I don't hate ticketmaster, never did. If I want to go to a concert, any concert, not just Buffett, I try to get tickets when they go on sale. If I don't get them, I check back periodically to see if any were released. If I still can't get them, I stay home. There are a lot of concerts I want to go to, there aren't any I have to go to.

If it were not for ticketmaster, I would have had to pay brokers a lot more for the great seats for broadway shows in NYC. I probably would have missed Simon and Garfunkel at MSG and a number of other smaller club events in NYC. Living in Phila area, Ticketmaster has opened up the world of events for me - Toronto, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and many others. Back in the good old days, I remember camping out in lines overnight to get tickets to shows.LIPH wrote:I don't hate ticketmaster, never did. That is correct. Each team can decide if they want to use the service TM will provide, and NE probably won't.jimsig wrote:From what gather this is more NFL (including teams) then Ticketmaster doing. Its pure b.s. They use the excuse that your getting "real tickets" to make people think its on the up and up. Its the venue and the scalpers working hand in hand. How many people actually buy fake tickets each year?? Its pretty small compared to the tickets passed under the counter to Brokers
When while STate A.G's go after this crap. Scalping laws are so underenforced its unreal. Until someone rips off some politicians kid, nothing will change.

The cubs and the tribune have done this for years. When Jimmy played at wrigley, the show was a sellout in minutes. Weeks later thru the cubs website/wirgley field tickets(scalpers) they had priemun seats on the field. It seems that they "held back a few thousand seats that they sold at a hefty profit. Concert tickets are not property of major league baseball, so, the tribune and cubs kept all the profit. While the phans got the short end of the stick. That is why I am NOT a cub fan.
