Anyone wait in line at the store anymore?
Would I get a better chance of a seat if I wait in line at Maceys Ticketmaster for the store to open or online?
Last year I tried to get them online and they were sold out before I got on. Within minutes they were on other websites for $100 a ticket for a $30 lawn seat!
Was looking forward to going to my 1st buffett concert last year but wasn't paying $100 a ticket. I don't want to miss him this year!

If you really want to go, wait until the week before the show and keep checking TM for tickets to drop. Usually you can get sets of 2 pretty easy if you are OK with a last minute thing. BTW, Shhhh! Dont't tell anyone.Aquakeeper wrote:Would I get a better chance of a seat if I wait in line at Maceys Ticketmaster for the store to open or online?

2001 - This is the last time I remember going to an actual store to get tickets for a show.
I bring it up because it was for Jimmy Buffett AND when I walked into the record store late (45 minutes after tickets had already been onsale), there was a line of 12+ people deep, most of which were all singing MARGARITAVILLE as it was blasting on the speakers. People were actually DANCING in line. Never have seen anything like it before!
Well, I finally get to the front of the line and ask for 2 reserved.
There were only single reserved tickets left. I asked for 1 and 1 and my tickets were given to me.
The very next person behind was told, "I'm sorry sir. It's SOLD OUT."
Memorable experience to say the least.

I didn't stand in line last year, but I ended up going to an out-of-town show.
Two years ago and previously I have lined up at the store to purchase tickets. I think I have only been shut out once or twice. (Lawn seats, not pavilion)

The person in front of me was going to write a check, but they didn't accept checks, so he went to the desk to get cash---I got the last 2 tickets available....he was p*ssed

I've been 8th in line for Buffett tickets and got shut out.
Here's why I gave up waiting in line (and I never got there more than an hour or two early):
There have been times I've had a good position, only to have the store decide to do a random drawing for the first spot about 30 minutes before selling tickets. I don't mind the wristband/drawing policy, but you have to announce it first.
You're also at the mercy of the employee pulling up the tickets. I still remember the girl that moved like a sloth on downers.
Worst of all, you're at the mercy of the people in front of you. You can get people looking to buy tickets to Cats that have been on sale for 2 months. Others looking for concert tickets scratch their chin and decide to decline the first tickets and look for others. That's their right, but it messes up everyone behind them. Some don't realize you needed cash instead of plastic, or vice versa.
Too many variable I can't control, I'll take my chances online.

I used to play the lottery game but I have much better luck online now. Instead of making people meet up and go up to get a lottery ticket every 5 people and hoping you have enough to cover, we all just go online and buy them. Having 1 person get through in the store does not do enough good since we need more than 6 tickets.

I don't know anywhere you can get in line in so cal anymore. My one experience in line was awful, (always do it online, now) we were 8th in line behind 7 homeless looking people that had slept in front of the store on cardboard all night. The scalpers hire them to get the max tickets. By the time I got to the front I was so disgusted, I was mad AND there were only lawn seats left...walked away.....missed the concert that year......sirius radio is so worth it at those times. Crank up the sirius...put a Jimmy DVD on with the sound turned down....fire up the BBQ and the FCM with a bunch of friends....it's the next best thing to being there.

A friend of mine will only go stand in line at Carson Pirie Scott's which he did last week for Chicago tickets. They did the lottery, he was ticket 516 and they pulled 515 to start the line. He got 6 on the field for the Chicago Saturday show. I'm with Chippewa....too many things that are not within my control.

I used to have some friends go wait in line while I was online. Most places did a lottery drawing and one time my friend got picked to be first in line. We ended up with section 1 about 13 rows back at great woods. But most of the time they just get sold out before you get there. One year we were 5th in line and didn't get tickets, but I usually can get through online. Although it was worth it for the chance at some really good seats.
how 'bout a combination of both. When ticket sales were on saturdays for chicago or alpine, I'd go to a ticketmaster box office and wait for the drawing. If I got a bad draw, it was back in the car for the 10 minute sprint home to set up the machines online.
We have two ticketmasters in town and one is pretty good, but the line is long. The other is at a department store and I swear the lady in charge is 90 years old and can't read the screen half the time...
I am somewhat convinced that I'll get better seats in line than online, but i'm not sure if that is true or not...just seems online even if I'm in at 9:00, my tickets are not secured for a minute or two after that, if I were first in line the machines at the ticketmaster locations can process much faster
