depends on the team. Red Sox tickets are a bear, as are Yankees for a lot of games. On the other hand, O's and Marlins tickets are a steal.z-man wrote:Going to a Stanley Cup Playoff game was high on my to-do list.
When the Tampa Bay Lightning were making their run a few years ago, playoff tickets were embarrisingly easy to get.
A friend and I watched Philly blow the Lightning out in Tampa during the semi-finals.
It was not particularly expensive, and it was worth every penny!
Spring training baseball in Florida has always been an excellent bargain.

Re: Sporting events to see.
You can do NASCAR and keep it affordable - if you don't mind having seats that offer less than the best view.ragtopW wrote:Nascar Weekend.. All of the events.. With the next Monday off .. To sleep.
Premium NASCAR tickets are expensive - we pay $110-$120 per ticket for seats neat start/finish and fairly high up (better view) at Atlanta. Some tracks (Talladega for one) offer weekend combo tickets for something in the neighborhood of $60 per ticket. The seats are on the backstretch but you get in for both Saturday's Busch/Nationwide race and Sunday's Cup race. The only expense is finding a place to stay, and if you don't mind camping or have an RV that isn't a big cost either, and you can stay right at the track.
Another sport I'd add - go see a local rodeo. The big boys (PRCA Wrangler tour and PBR) get all the press, but the local Dodge circuit rodeos are where it all gets started - cowboys and cowgirls who work 9-5 and rodeo on the weekends. Add to that the tickets are usually $10-$15, it is a blast.

The NHL Winter Classic being played outdoors today at 1pm EST.
Being held at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo...70,000 fans, the largest ever to see a live hockey game. My Penguins vs. the Sabres.
Tickets sold out in 30 minutes. But they are saying the success of this could generate more outdoor games in the future.

The first one they did between the Canadiens and the Oilers was a great game, especially when they had a "Legends" game before the game started. A lot of the "old timers" could still play.blackjack wrote:The NHL Winter Classic being played outdoors today at 1pm EST.

Looking forward to watching the game later today. The NHL rocks ( and IMHO) the Canadiens are the Jewel

A couple of other events to go to are Mud Bog races and college hockey.
I've done both.
Mud bog races are fun to go to in the summer, and watch people "run what they brung" thru the mud. Some make it, many don't but they're all intersting. Just sit back with your coller and some friends and watch the mud fly.
As for college hockey, I have season tickets to the University of Vermont's team, and have had the plaesure of watching many collegiate players who went onto the NHL like Martin St Louis of Tampa, Tim Thomas of Boston, Torrey Mitchell of San Jose and many others. Tickets for a game here run $17 apiece. Great hockey, as these players are working their butts off hoping for a shot at the 'big time"

I think Fantasy Beach Volleyball has a huge upside. It has the possibility of waisting more time that fantasy football, basketball and baseball combined.ragtopW wrote:another one I missed..Brown Eyed Girl wrote:Beach Volleyball. These days the tour brings the beach with them...so it doesn't matter if there isn't a beach close by. Definitely worth seeing...both guys and gals.

The US Open for Tennis is awesome. There's nothing like five-setters going into the early morning and much of the crowd never leaves.
Mid-major basketball is great too, especially when it gets close to tournament time.
Minor-league baseball
Arena football is fun too.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

Well the Winter Classic was everything I expected. Snow, Sleet, overtime shootout and a Penguins victory! (but all in the comfort of my home.)C-Dawg wrote:The first one they did between the Canadiens and the Oilers was a great game, especially when they had a "Legends" game before the game started. Wow, good one. I remember there was "something associated with" the race in San Diego back in the early 90's. Man was it an exciting place to hang out. And That's all I remember toodiverg wrote:Army/Navy game for me.TommyBahama wrote:Events i'd like to see....Super Bowl , the Final 4....Army/Navy Game....the Rose Bowl.....and UCONN playing for the National Championship in Football( that is the improbable)

I went to New Zealand in 2003 to watch the 31st Americas Cup. A very fun trip indeed.Tequila Revenge wrote:Wow, good one.
