Musicians I've Come to Know Through Jimmy

Post by Bfan53 »

Just the other day my wife & I started talking about all of the musicians that we've either discovered or again re-discovered just by being Buffett fans. Some of these artists play from time to time with Jimmy on tour and/or are featured on Radio Margaritaville quite often. It really is amazing how our musicial tastes have been broadened over the years. Honestly, without Jimmy's influence, we would have probably never heard many of these people perform.

New artists to us:
> Peter Mayer as a solo artist
> Jake Shimabukaro
> Johnny Clegg
> Ziggy Marley
> Lyle Lovett
> Boat Drunks
> Bankie Banx
> Jerry Jeff Walker
> Toots & the Maytals
> Henry Kapono

Artists we've re-discovered:
> Little Feat
> Bob Marley & the Wailers
> Santanna

The lists could go on, but any other BN members wish to add their own preferences to these?

And, before I forget, Happy New Year to all!!!!!

I highlighted the ones we are in agreement. I would add KD Moore and Jim Morris.

There was this guy who played with Jimmy in the second Foxborough show who I can't remember the name of. I never heard of him until then.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

I'd add Barefoot Man and Kenny Chesney to that list.
Barefoot Man I found when I googled Tropical Rock, looking for music to buy for my MP3 player.
Kenny Chesney was recommended to me by a friend who likes CW and knows I love Trop Rock.
As for artists I've re-discovered, I'd add Rusted Root, and Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits ( hadn't listened to them in a few years til Jimmy did his tune)

I read one of Jimmy's journals on RM a few years ago and he mentioned he loved to listen to Putumayo. I never could find the band called Putumayo, but have a bunch of World Music from the label Putumayo.
