Jimmy Perfoms in St Barts on New Year's Eve
Thanks to MacFan for passing this along to us: Jimmy Buffett took the stage around 2:00 am at Baz Bar on the harbor in St Barts. He played 8 songs, "What I Say" (Ray Charles), "Brown Eyed Girl", "Volcano", "Margaritaville", "No Woman No Cry", "For What It's Worth" (Buffalo Springfield), "Autour du Rocher," "You Can't Always Get What You Want" (the Rolling Stones).
It was awesome! Savannah Jane was there, along with a bunch of people from Saturday Night Live and The Office. My family spotted him before he took the stage and we were lucky enough to get right in front of him for his set. Jimmy had a great time and you can tell he absolutely loves performing ... First time I've ever seen him in shoes!
Earlier yesterday I saw Jimmy getting Groovy ready in Gustavia Harbor for the annual New Year's boat race on St. Barths.

Jimmy wore shoes in Aspen, but he took them off soon. though he played more than 8 songs too. Maybe he was just about to take them off, stumbled off stage and decided he'd better stop. It was 2:am!!flipflopgirl wrote:![]()

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar
Seeing that if I ever hear Brown Eyed Girl again by ANYONE yet alone Jimmy Buffett...I'll puke. It might be the #1 reason why I never go to another Buffett show again - yeah, I know, more tickets for whoever - no need to be said, I stopped going to his shows years ago and only ever happen to catch him at Jazz Fest.
He has so many songs...and he plays THAT?
OK. I'm sure it was fun, the right setting...but come on! Do something original!

It was New Years Eve and I assume the people there were treated to an impromptu set.JustDucky wrote:Seeing that if I ever hear Brown Eyed Girl again by ANYONE yet alone Jimmy Buffett...I'll puke. Here's the definiton:

It fits it perfectly.
If Jimmy wants to sing the "Star Spangle Banner", that's his business.
My wife and I enjoy whatever Jimmy wants to sing.
and happen to like his version of BEG!
Did you ever think that Jimmy maybe enjoys doing "covers" of songs, he likes and listened to when we were listening to him? Also, songs he can have some fun with!
We would never say, "Don't go , that's more tickets for us". That is rude and insensitive.
My wife and I try to put ourselves into Jimmy's shoes( or lack of shoes)
After 35 years of performing, he needs to make it interesting for him, or why keep on doing it!??
Happy New Year!
Just a thought!

It's the tropics... it's New Year Eve....
If he wants to hum the theme to Gilligan Island, it would cool as hell, and a story you can tell the rest of your life. And I would hum right along with him.
and GOOD! MORE TICKETS FOR ME!
For what's worth, at Nissan this year after performing BEG Jimmy smiled and said: "I like playing that song!" Just Jimmy being Jimmy.......JustDucky wrote:Seeing that if I ever hear Brown Eyed Girl again by ANYONE yet alone Jimmy Buffett...I'll puke. I think we all have songs that we silently (or maybe not so silently) wish he wouldn't play :::cough cough:: Glory Days ::cough cough:: But isn't it that way with ANY act you go to see perform? You can't like 'em all but you just make the best of it!

Hey where did we go,
Days when the rains came
Down in the hollow,
Playin' a new game,
Laughing and a running hey, hey
Skipping and a jumping
In the misty morning fog with
Our hearts a thumpin' and you
My brown eyed girl,
You my brown eyed girl.
Whatever happened
To Tuesday and so slow
Going down the old mine
With a transistor radio
Standing in the sunlight laughing,
Hiding behind a rainbow's wall,
Slipping and sliding
All along the water fall, with you
My brown eyed girl,
You my brown eyed girl.
Do you remember when we used to sing,
Sha la la la la la la la la la la te da
So hard to find my way,
Now that I'm all on my own.
I saw you just the other day,
My how you have grown,
Cast my memory back there, Lord
Sometime I'm overcome thinking 'bout
Making love in the green grass
Behind the stadium with you
My brown eyed girl
You my brown eyed girl
Do you remember when we used to sing
Sha la la la la la la la la la la te da.
