he has boats and planes everywhere . . . I know for a fact he has one boat up on the Cape here in MA right now and one in Maine . . . don't mean much when you got 300,000,000 to kick around.

Just to be with Jimmy ANYWHERE would make my day. Brown Eyed Girl is a great song. He's been singing it so long, it feels like his song anyway.

I could think of a lot of other things to complain about. Anything he sings is fine by me!

Jimmy, how about "Far Side of the World?!" or "Slow Boat to China?"

I've seen Van Morrison do it live, Jimmy should never do it again.

couldn't agree more, Larry. Jimmy is great at Jimmy songs . . . but his covers, especially Brown Eyed Girl really, really aren't that good.

(the only one I can think of that I like is Southern Cross but even then I would still rather hear a Jimmy Song . . .)

Remember Jimmy's own words "Don't try to describe the ocean if you've never seen it. Don't ever forget that you just may wind up being wrong. " I think it applies to all this discussion about what he sang on NYE. Brown-Eyed Girl, covers? Who cares? St. Barths and Jimmy! Can't describe it if you haven't been there. Seems perfect to me.

My belief is JB continues to do BEG because it's such a great Sing-a-long song. While I love the JB originals, many of the concert-going "fans" don't sing-a-long to any of his originals other than a couple of the Yellow album songs.

Actually the ticket comment was said only because I've seen quite a few people say that. So I pre-empted.

Wikipedia? What, the source of knowledge that can be changed at any time? That's garbage.

I loved BEG when it came out on OPH and it is a much better version than the original. But it's just...yeah yeah yeah he's JB and can do whatever he wants...blah blah blah. It's a bathroom break. There's just so many other JB tunes he could do that are, to me, much better. So he likes playing it. Great. A friend of mine says it's a song about anal sex. Which I don't really get. I've heard other people say that as well.

Anyway...some sense of humour y'all got, gettin' so defensive. It's quite funny. Sorry for expressing my opinion. From now on I'll act like I live in China when I log on and say something since any criticism is so anti-JB. Everything will be over the top pro Jimmy, like how Last Mango is his best album and how his clunkers like Vampires... and quite a few others are such gems.

I'm sure I've seen Van Morrison do this before... probably on an ACL show... Never saw Van Morrison live myself...

But I think Jimmy just gets so much satisfaction out of this! So much more so than Van Morrison.

Van is not a warm and fuzzy performer. I've seen him 2 times and both times as he was doing the last song he took the microphone and walked offstage while he was still singing. No "Good night, thanks for coming", nothing.

And as I responded, Just Ducky, saying that would be rude and insensitive.

Wikipedia? What, the source of knowledge that can be changed at any time? That's garbage.

Well JD, I provided a reference for the word, Impromptu, just incase you didn't know what that meant. As for Wikipedia, it was a fast reference and a correct one. I just didn't want to link you to anything over you head.

Here's a link to Merriam-Webster, if you like that one better:

http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/impromptu

I loved BEG when it came out on OPH and it is a much better version than the original. But it's just...yeah yeah yeah he's JB and can do whatever he wants...blah blah blah. It's a bathroom break. There's just so many other JB tunes he could do that are, to me, much better. So he likes playing it. Great. A friend of mine says it's a song about anal sex. Which I don't really get. I've heard other people say that as well.

As for you liking BEG, you have a very strange way of indicating that, and I quote:

"Seeing that if I ever hear Brown Eyed Girl again by ANYONE yet alone Jimmy Buffett...I'll puke. It might be the #1 reason why I never go to another Buffett show again.

We agree Jimmy has a wealth of music to draw from, but if BEG is what he chooses to sing, then so be it. I don't think carping about "free set" he did while celebrating New Years on St. Bart's, will ever change what Jimmy chooses to play. Maybe it is one of the songs he can remember the words to, without a prompter! :o :D Do I hear "Senior Moment"!

As for being offended at my response, I tried to do it in a respectful way. If you were offended, the problem is you. This is a forum about Jimmy. Does that mean I agree with everything he does? No! But my opinion is as valid as your's.

As I said, if Jimmy singing BEG or Glory Days or Vampires keeps him happy and performing. Whatever he sings is fine with me. We began seeing Jimmy in 1980 and we aren't ready to have him stop, just yet!

Just our opinion!

We welcome hearing more of your's , But you'll have to excuse us, if we don't agree!:D
BUFFETTING: The act of leaving reality and going off to see Jimmy Buffett!

Mr. Webster, we have a NEW definition!
