But Mr. Obomba does not know the Pledge of Allegiance . . . kind of important for the job.Skibo wrote:I think it is great that obomba won iowa. I thing the US is more colorblind than it gets credit for. Obomba got votes because of his positions on issues. He got the antiwar vote, he split the anti-Hillary vote and he is very likeable. Unfortunately in the general election, I don't see republicans voting for him. Not because he is black but because of large disagreement with his policies. I also do believe that there are still very large racial biases in the blue collar/union communities, (typically strong democrat areas) I think those people might miss the election reducing turnout. In Hillary's case I see them showing up and voting for the Rep candidate.mjeischen wrote: But the interesting thing to see was that an African American got a victory in a predominantly white state. That is something worth mentioning . . . I'm not turning this into a racial argument but you yourself was looking back at the 60's civil rights movements . . . . a mere 40+ years ago this was inconcievable.
Edwards, is probably the best dem candidate at this point, he is so pretty. I would never vote for hillary, but I would vote for Obomba if Rudy got the Rep nomination.

This site is interesting in showing who has won Iowa through the 1996 Caucus in some instances did not end up with the nomination. Tom Harkin killed Clinton in 1992 and Dick Gephardt won in 1988.
Long way to the conventions. To quote Jimmy, "only time will tell" if Mike Huckabee and Senator Obama will be on the ballot in November.

I don't want to live on that kind of island
No, I don't want to swim in a roped off sea.
Too much for me, too much for me
I've got to be where the wind and the water are free.

Well . . . I am no fun to talk politcs with. People cheer for "their" side (republican or democrat) like people do the Yankees or Red Sox or whatever sports team . . .
I hate that.
People also never want to talk in depth about anything. People respond to buzz words or catch phrases like "cap and trade" or whatever without really getting into what the topic means.
Issues and/ or promise candidates make need to be followed up with "where will the money come from" and "what is the projected cost base in relation to inflation" or "how would you delegate man power to this promise that is obviously bull sh*t to get votes . . ." type questions.
The bottom line is . . . no one will remove troops from Iraq no matter how much they promise to do so . . . no one (especially the people, Hillary, who voted for the war) . . . no one will change business production . . . and taxes will not change . . . sorry . . . it is boring to approach the pending election like this . . . but that is the reality. And I think we all know this.

Clinton is a whiny liar and former thief as well as a hypocrit (Iraq). So, yeah, I bet they will send that out.Tequila Revenge wrote:drunkpirate66 wrote:Skibo wrote:It's not like he would need to recite it in the schools, hasn't it been banned because of the under God phrase?drunkpirate66 wrote: But Mr. Obomba does not know the Pledge of Allegiance . . . kind of important for the job.

How I see it is that Americans are beginning to wise up and pay more attention to the White House. I've felt duped by the scandals/lies around the White House. (The exception being the oval office BJ - a man has needs and it wasn't an impeachable issue) I, personally, am paying more attention in hopes I can make a difference. In making a difference I've been thinking beyond just casting a vote but actually volunteering to get mroe votes. I dunno. I just don't like where we are headed.

Some of the news talk last week was reporting on this, focusing on the Ron Paul campaign and his messgae on real issues and not polling material.popcornjack wrote:That would be a wonderful world to live in.Skibo wrote:I saw the humor. Real issues?
I admit that what I know about Ron Paul couldn't fill a shot glass but if you think he will have the ability to remove 100% of the troops from Iraq like he claims he will then you, with all due respect, need to re-think what it means to be honest or what it means to live in reality.

I never said I agree with anything, all I said it was an at length news conversation. Heck, maybe he could be the person to bring about change in the process by his campaign style if he keeps getting more attention than the other attention whores?drunkpirate66 wrote:Tequila Revenge wrote:Some of the news talk last week was reporting on this, focusing on the Ron Paul campaign and his messgae on real issues and not polling material.popcornjack wrote:That would be a wonderful world to live in.Skibo wrote:I saw the humor. The real winner is john mccain.
He spent not that much time at all in iowa compared to the rest and still managed to tie for third and spent not nearly as much as thompson. (i doubt thompson will stay in much longer if he keeps finishing third. I know, from a very reliable source, that his days are numbered if he doesn't do well in south carolina)
McCain is very much ahead in the polls, and huckabee winning is going to hurt romney and by extension help mccain.
I still think huckabee is running for vice president.
The best ticket to come out of the republican party... McCain Huckabee'08
I would vote for obama over romney or guliani and I am a card carrying die hard republican. only because guliani is not presidental material, he is a head of the DOD type, and rommey has changed his positions so many times he is worse than kerry. If he has stuck to his guns maybe I could have respect him enough to vote, there is just something so slick about him, too polished or something. I just think he is more of the same. It would be like re-electing bill clinton or something. i can't imagine anything worse... well actually electing hillary is worse. ugh, clinton's we all hate you please go away.

Currious why a "card carrying die hard republican," would vote for obama? Any consideration for Richardsom or Biden if the spinmeisters ever gave them more than 2 minutes to address an audience?seminolegrl06 wrote:The real winner is john mccain.
