It's a Good Day to Be a RepublicanJ

Yep, you heard that right. This is the one day of the year that it is better to be a Republican.

If you live in Iowa, that is.

The Republicans have this caucus thing exactly right. You show up, write the name of the candidate you want on a slip of paper, drop it in a box, and then race home in time for Ugly Betty.

There's no talking to anyone. No cajoling other people in the room to vote the same way as you. No begging. Just in and out. Civilized.

The Democrats? More like a 7th grade gym class choosing dodge ball teams. There is a lot of arguing, hurt feelings and wild promises made in a desperate bid to not be picked last.

And yes, that last kid standing against the wall, the one with the lazy eye and orthopedic boot, is Kucinich.

Not many details.
People showed up and went on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about how their candidate walks on water and how the others are a bunch of schlubs that can't even sit when they sh*t. :x

ME-I just went in, said I was for Obama because I didn't want the wicked b*tch of the east screwing up MY country.
Then I slapped the lady precinct captain on the okole and left.

That's it.

There you have it! Only 15 "on and on's" tonight In Iowa..... Now, if only the rest of us could be so lucky for the next 24 hours as the talking heads tell us what really happened tonight.

Let me practice. Just in case.

We have to watch CNN, FOX, MSNBC and whoever else to tell us what really happened. It's the American way! There must be a story in a story, a big contraversy, a possible crime or two and we all need to know what happened to Hillary :o :P :D

I don't know WHAT happened to Hillary (especially since the nudniks here think her sh*t doesn't stink), but if I were Obama, I wouldn't turn my back on her.

I hope the rest of the country feels the same way, but I'm not holding my breath.

BTW-VERY nice photo of your two lovely ladies.

I hope the millions of dollars dumped in Iowa helps the residents get through the winter. I guess we'll hear of Iowa in two more years when they have the next presidential caucus, yeah, I said 2 years. They will have to move it up that far probably to be the first in the nation.

Kudos to the media for overplaying the entire event. Before results they were saying Iowans were the smartest voters in the nation and they will be very thoughtful. What was it 10% turnout? Iowa has spoken. I also enjoyed the commentary afterwards. Remember folks Iowa winners rarely go on to win the nomination.

Am I the only one in the country that finds Sean Hannity more annoying that Rush Limbaugh? Come on Sean, John Kerry called and wants his 2004 strategy back. The stop Hillary express lost its wheels long ago. The democrats are not listening and Kerry proved 4 years ago that you can't run claiming to be "not" someone else.

Seeing that you were watching the same stuff I was . . . .

Hannity does bug me as does most of Fox but MSNBC isn't much better.

But the interesting thing to see was that an African American got a victory in a predominantly white state. That is something worth mentioning . . . I'm not turning this into a racial argument but you yourself was looking back at the 60's civil rights movements . . . . a mere 40+ years ago this was inconcievable.

So what if Iowas winners don't go on to win the big white house it still says something. Especially when Clinton was 9 points down from the lead. Clinton was the powerhouse coming into this thing and low and behold she's fighting for 2nd or 3rd. Behind Edwards and Obama.

Last night made me want to pay more attention to Edwards which I haven't done.

I thought what I saw last night was kinda cool . . . .

I doubt this one bags any interns though being a preacher/pastor/minister/whatever . . . I certainly don't want a heavy dosage of god in my politics. I sensed some of that from him.

Why does every Republican have to be like Reagan? I saw they interviewed Huckabee and asked him about Reagan politics. Naturally, Huckabee said in so many words he embodied the Reagan philosophy.

So Obama "wins" Iowa, because die-hard Republicans are "voting" for him as a protest vote???????

I guess I don't understand.

Not so sure about that . . . churches and sex go hand and hand as of late. billions and law suits don't lie.

As far as Reuplicans and Reagan. They obvioulsy don't. But Reagan defined an image that people still respond to so I think it is more of a strategy . . . I think the Republicans would rather have the Reagan image than the W. image.

I think it is great that obomba won iowa. I thing the US is more colorblind than it gets credit for. Obomba got votes because of his positions on issues. He got the antiwar vote, he split the anti-Hillary vote and he is very likeable. Unfortunately in the general election, I don't see republicans voting for him. Not because he is black but because of large disagreement with his policies. I also do believe that there are still very large racial biases in the blue collar/union communities, (typically strong democrat areas) I think those people might miss the election reducing turnout. In Hillary's case I see them showing up and voting for the Rep candidate.

Edwards, is probably the best dem candidate at this point, he is so pretty. I would never vote for hillary, but I would vote for Obomba if Rudy got the Rep nomination.
