I meant over .500 for more then a day or two.SMLCHNG wrote:Arizona is...drunkpirate66 wrote: It helps that no team in their division is over .500.![]()
And two of the 3 teams we've played in the last 3 series weren't in our division.

But, yeah, Colorado is doing good . . . would love to see Holladay in a Red Sox uniform.
Unfortuatley Holladay, like all young big name players, will most likely go to a big market team when his contract runs out. He is one of the big reasons why the Red Sox are hesitant to make a move on Manny's option. Holladay is younger and worth more and the Red Sox will put together a massive bid for him. Jason Bay is one of the few players who didn't go big market although Pittsburgh isn't small. Holladay will get something like 17 million a year for 8 - 9 years.SMLCHNG wrote:drunkpirate66 wrote:I meant over .500 for more then a day or two.

I know... I'm nitpicking...
Don't think the Rockies will let Matt go... but who knows...
psst . . . he is a future big market east coast player . . . regardless of the vowel.SMLCHNG wrote:Pssst, Jon? It's Holliday..![]()
I can see The Mets pulling the trigger on this...Minya is in love with Manny and here is his opportunity..even if it's for the rest of this season..plus the option if they want it....what the mets have to give up ..I'm not sure other then a highly taughted outfielder who's name escapes me..i think it's Hernandez or Martinez!!drunkpirate66 wrote:15 minutes after I posted that Manny Ramirez told ESPN Deportes that he would honor a trade . . . :lolI: I still don't think he is going anywhere. There is a huge list of reasons why but primarily the Red Sox would have to look to the National League and the only team in contention out there that I could see Manny going to would be the Mets. The Red Sox would practically insist that if they trade Manny that his new team would agree in principle to picking up his option so the Sox get picks.popcorn jack wrote:Thanks. The Red Sox will try to make a move for Brian Fuentes. But that is about it. They have a couple above average arms in Triple A.
The Red Sox have a very easy schedule throughout the rest of the season. The Yankees do not. Rays is no cake walk either. Despite the fact the Red Sox have not been playing well I think they slide into the playoffs based on strength of schedule, Ortiz's bat, Manny playing for money, and Crisp and Elsbury at least improving a little because they can't get worse - - - and Lowrie should improve . . . any way you slice it, the AL East and Wild Card will be tight.![]()
I just don't see the Red Sox doing it. What would fair value be? The Nomar trade was genius. Can Theo Epstein do it again?
I just can't see the Red Sox getting equal value. Best move, IMO, is no move. Red Sox don't trade Manny. Red Sox don't pick up his option and I bet no other team does either at 20 million. Red Sox can then negotiate. Manny does not have the numbers or the age to justify anthing but a pay cut on a 3 year contract.TommyBahama wrote:I can see The Mets pulling the trigger on this...Minya is in love with Manny and here is his opportunity..even if it's for the rest of this season..plus the option if they want it....what the mets have to give up ..I'm not sure other then a highly taughted outfielder who's name escapes me..i think it's Hernandez or Martinez!!drunkpirate66 wrote:15 minutes after I posted that Manny Ramirez told ESPN Deportes that he would honor a trade . . . :lolI: I still don't think he is going anywhere. oh i agree......but i think if the Sox have a chance to reload with Prospects...they would strongly consider....i think they want to get rid of the Headache....you don't know which Manny you will get now and the Sox aren't sure...and we all know when Manny isn't happy...what he is like!!..it's a tough call.drunkpirate66 wrote:I just can't see the Red Sox getting equal value. Not so sure. Manny has been stupid many times over his 8 years in Boston (albeit pushing an old man to the floor is pretty bad). They are in the playoff race so there is no way they dump Manny just for prospects. None. The fans would never forgive that. They have to play for this year based on their position in the standings. Manny stays or they get equal value. In other words, Manny stays. They might WANT to get rid of the Headache but they simply can't. Manny in the playoffs has always been clutch and unless they get back an amazing deal from a three team trade that I just don't see coming then Manny will be in the lineup as much as possible.TommyBahama wrote:oh i agree......but i think if the Sox have a chance to reload with Prospects...they would strongly consider....i think they want to get rid of the Headache....you don't know which Manny you will get now and the Sox aren't sure...and we all know when Manny isn't happy...what he is like!!..it's a tough call.drunkpirate66 wrote:I just can't see the Red Sox getting equal value.
