Jason Bay is going to Boston as part of the deal, ESPN.com's Jayson Stark reported. And the Pittsburgh Pirates get four minor leaguers as part of the three-way deal.
Third baseman Andy LaRoche and right-handed pitcher Bryan Morris will go to the Pirates from the Dodgers. Outfielder Brandon Moss and right-handed pitcher Craig Hansen will leave the Red Sox orgianization for Pittsburgh, ESPN.com has learned.

Torre had to deal with ego's in NY...adding Manny won't be a big deal for Torre!...and i think Manny has a little respect for Torre!!....They will be fine....Manny got what he wanted out of Boston...and what better a place to go the Laid back LA!!!

I am surprised by this. The Red Sox have had an uncanny ability to get players at the start of their primes so Jason Bay is a good deal for them. That being said I wish Manny would've finished out the year in Boston. I will miss him . . .
Hopefully Jason Bay can produce and the attitude around the club house lightens up enough for the Sox to finish out this year on a positive note.

Hey Manny - Good riddance! Thanks for helping us break the curse but your selfish immature nonsense is a tired act. L.A. is perfect for you. The fans don't expect too much - the Dodgers have won only ONE play off game in 20 years. And the fan scrutiny is Nothing like it is in Boston.
Besides - Dodger fans - you only have him for 2 months before he becomes a free agent.

I like Bay . . . I do, really. But I think Manny bullied the Red Sox into this. I read a story just now that said at 3:30 Theo Epstein went to John Henry and said "looks like no deal" and Henry's response was "oh you are going to make a f*cking deal . . ."
The Sox absolutley should've gotten atleast one more player, I agree. I was hoping for Ronny Paulino to take over for Varitek.
I never thought they would do it. As young and as good as Jason Bay is it just seems a little much.
Funny about Manny though . . . left field out in LA is massive. Lets see how that hurt knee holds up . . .

I heard that it's going to be tougher for Manny being in LA because if he wanted to play everyday, it's going to have to be in Left Field and he can't take a half break by being a DH.

I origionally thought Henry was the one owner who didn't want to Trade him..Hanson wasn't a huge loss...but i think Moss could of been used in another deal....at least he'll have a shot at playing time in Pittsburg!!
