40 years ago today the Tigers beat the Cards in game 7 of the '68 series.
Gee, I hope the next round of the A.L. playoffs start soon..... :-?
1968 was the last time the World Series participants were decided by the regular season results only.

Which is why I consider them the last "true champions".
That, and the fact that I've rooted for them for 40 years.

They weren't. They were too good of pitches. A sinker ball pitcher wants you to swing at low pitches to get the double plays.

"40 years ago today the Tigers beat the Cards in game 7 of the '68 series."

Mickey Lolich was the winning pitcher if I remember correctly.

Go Phillies! (Unless Boston goes to the World Series, then I'm hoping for The Dodgers and the possibility of Manny coming back to Boston. Would love to see Manny put it to the red sox)

I have no idea who to pick in the ALCS but if I were to bet money I would probably take TB+$135 to win the series just based on the injuries the Red Sox have and the fact TB seems to be one of those teams that everything is going perfect for them at the right time (like the 04 Red Sox, 05 White Sox, 06 Cardinals, 08 NY Giants and my Fall 2007 Softball team who won the championship despite being a 4-seed) but I still don't get these t-shirts they are selling on the TB website? Is it the Yankees Dynasty they are referring to?And if so how can anyone say the Yankees are still a Dynasty? And by saying they took down Red Sox Nation does this mean they are guaranteeing victory in the ALCS?

Dice-K threw 6 innings of of no-hit ball and there were times in the game where I thought the play by play announcer for TBS was trying everything in his power to make sure it gets broken up by always bringing up the no hitter whenever possible.

There are still 2 teams that qualify, if I read your post correctly. Boston and Philly.

Actually, I was debating on whether to include the Dodgers but didn't, obviously. You can never go wrong with blue.

Francona continues to live a charmed playoff life. Sending Dice-k out for the 8th to face not one, but two hitters. Then bringing in Okajima. Thank God Maddon gives his players the green light on 3-0 counts. :P

BTW, I just found a neat feature. I opened up the box score for the game. When you click on a half inning score you can watch the video of the entire half inning. 8)

I got there from the Red Sox site. Click "Wrap" in the story box about the game. go down to the box score and click on an inning.

When he sent DiceK out for the 8th inning I said to the people I was with, I have seen this movie before and I didn't like it the first time when the parts were played by Grady and Pedro.
