Well, Fenway isn't being used now either.SMLCHNG wrote:Gulfbreeze wrote:How about finishing this game back here in the Trop??SMLCHNG wrote:![]()

Hmmm.. how 'bout coming to a neutral place.. like Denver??

No way. First of all, it's baseball. It should be played outside, even if the weather's bad. Indoor baseball isn't real baseball.Gulfbreeze wrote:How about finishing this game back here in the Trop??SMLCHNG wrote:![]()

But he just completed the trifecta!mikemck wrote:I've been saying it since the day he became commissioner, but it deserves to be repeated:

I hear ya. I can prepare for one or the other (usually at a football game), but cold & wet is when I bail.SharkOnLand wrote:How much of a disaster would it have been if they had called the game after 5½ innings?
I was cold just watching the game... Cold rain is my nemesis. I can handle snow, but being cold and wet is the worst, IMHO.
Remember, Fox and it's minions at MLB wants the World Series to go 7 games. That's how they will get their money. They are unhappy that, as far as I can recall, only one series went to the full length (Boston vs TB 7 games).chippewa wrote:But he just completed the trifecta!mikemck wrote:I've been saying it since the day he became commissioner, but it deserves to be repeated:

Ruined the All-Star game (tie game)
Ruined spring training (world baseball classic)
Ruined the World Series (see last night, I'm blaming him for the way it was handled and give me a minute and I'll pin the rain on him, too)
Let's add some more playoff games next year, Bud. I think a Thanksgiving World Series game would have huge ratings, as long as you put it up against the Lions game.
$25 to park? Up here, the parking places would expect you to pay $90 to park next to Fenway... twice.mikemck wrote:I just don't understand why this stuff always, always, always happens to us.
We've been waiting 28 years for this and now they've ruined it. Even if we win, it's not going to be the same. There will always be an asterisk next to it.
I wanted so badly to see us win at home because I know from a source close to the team that the players had something they were going to do for the fans as a thank you when they won, but now I feel like it would almost be better to go back to that stupid dome so that we can win a real nine inning game, instead of a three inning mockery.
I agree with Al Morganti. If the Phillies lose tonight, there is no way Selig gets out of this town alive.
What's worse, the people who are going back tonight have to pay another $25 dollars to park again. I can't believe that the city won't waive the parking fee. That's just ridiculous.
Between the Phillies, the Eagles, the Flyers, and now the news that we're losing our beloved Phantoms at the end of this season, I really have to wonder if I died without realizing it and am now in sports fan Hell.
The one I feel the most sorry for is Cole Hamels. He was having an unbelievable World Series and was on a pace to put himself on the Phillies Mt Rushmore with Carlton, Roberts, Bunning, and Schilling.
He had the opportunity to be the first pitcher in history to go 5-0 in the post season and now that's been taken away from him.
If the Phillies lose tonight, I hope there's a riot at that stadium.
Yeah, but remember that Fenway is right in the middle of town where there really isn't any parking for a large event. This is in a several square mile area that is basically about 75% parking.aeroparrot wrote:$25 to park? Up here, the parking places would expect you to pay $90 to park next to Fenway... twice.
There's no question that this has so far been the lowest rated WS in televised history, but it's still the World Series and should be treated as such. Even so, that's just no way to treat the fans.No offense, to Phillies or Rays fans but Fox and MLB are probably p*** off that these two teams made it and they are trying to stick it to both fans base (so to speak). They probably would have accepted one of the two teams as long as one of the bigger markets (or more popular) markets made it.
Any other game is usually about $40. Plus, it's easier to get to Fenway via public transportation. If I remember correctly, there aren't too many public transportation choices to Citizens Bank Park is there?mikemck wrote:Yeah, but remember that Fenway is right in the middle of town where there really isn't any parking for a large event. There is theorhetically plenty of parking to accomodate CB Park, the Linc, the Wachovia Center and the Spectrum, all filled to capacity.
I remember back in the early eighties when the Vet was sold out for an Eagles' game, the Spectrum was sold out for a Flyers' game, and the Stars had a large crowd at JFK and there was still plenty of parking, even though there was only about 1/3 the parking space because we hadn't yet torn down the wharehouses on the east side of the complex.
Parking at Fenway is so high because it's rare (although, you're right, $90 is still ridiculous). There's plenty of parking here, so $25 is relatively very expensive.

Sounds like the classic attitude that gives Philly fans the reputation for being morons.mikemck wrote:I just don't understand why this stuff always, always, always happens to us.

I understand but, again, the price is relative to the availble parking space. Like I said, we have enough parking to accomodate all four stadiums (and that's not even counting FDR Park) so the prices should be lower.aeroparrot wrote:Any other game is usually about $40.
That was my point.Plus, it's easier to get to Fenway via public transportation.
The subway lets you off right in front of the stadium. When I lived in S. Jersey, we usually took the subway to the games, especially when we knew we'd be drinking. If I remember correctly, there aren't too many public transportation choices to Citizens Bank Park is there?
Actually, I never said they should have kept playing. I don't believe they should have played the game at all.Lightning Bolt wrote:Sounds like the classic attitude that gives Philly fans the reputation for being morons.
Play the game in pouring rain so you can save on the parking fees???? ..so Hamels can go 5-0??? c'mon...
Perhaps you should listen to what we're saying before you call us morons. Nobody is complaining about the weather. We're complaining about Selig and the officials' reaction to the weather and their incompetence in handling the whole affair.weather happens... deal with it.
