Alpine Valley No More??

Post by KSquared »

Please tell me this is not true!! Heard today that there will be no more concerts at Alpine due to the construction of some very expensive condos in the area. Rumour has it that prior to building, the condo people petitioned that there be no more summer concerts and it was approved. Tried calling Alpine and only got an answering machine so I don't know if this is true. Am hoping that someone out there will be able to dispel this nasty rumor!

This rumor has been spread every year since about 1990.

I'll believe it when it happens.

I'm not familiar with the annual rumor related to ALpine BUT Alpine is a Live Nation venue and Live Nation has been assessing properties and their value.

Tinley Park and Indy are mentioned to be for sale as the land is worth more overall than the revenue brought in from struggling summer touring seasons.

Tinley has seen a tremendous drop in performances with newer and smaller venues opening, so I would believe the theory of the property being worth more.

I think this would have been released as news though before now. To my understanding venues/cities are likely determined its merely a matter of dates.
The Parrot Dice Lounge kinda like a mirage. Here today and gone tomorrow. You should stop by and say hello when visiting Chicago on tour.

THIS IS OFFICIALLY A NON-ISSUE FOR THIS YEAR . . .

Alpine has a Myspace page and they listed job postings on the page on Jan. 3rd, 2008.

Everyone may back away from the ledge now . . .

stay put. there is the rumoured Wrigley date, which would probably result in another cancellation of Alpine like 2005

That "rumor" is pretty flimsy.

Well . . . I won't go to Wrigley again. That was a novelty.

If he cancels Alpine for Wrigley - i obviously won't get to Alpine.

Looks like I'll go on the road and visit Jimmy somewhere new . . . .

I doubt that one police officer (which was the source) telling someone that he heard something about some rock show at some point this summer means much.

I read a travel review in a doctors office a couple of years ago which listed Boise as a hidden gem. Nice downtown scene with good restaurants in an American Graffitti kinda way with an up and coming music scene.

It was considered nice, different, top weekend getaway for left coasters . . .

this has been discussed..
but in the times I have ever had anything to do with a concert
Here (pretty much) was the extent of the "cops being in on planning"

Promoter.. hi we are going to have a concert on XX day..
Nice officer.. OK for a crowd the size that you are talking about
you need xx official police for yy people. and xx rent a cops for
every many yy people
Oh yeah call the Fire Marshal to see how may tickets you can sell for
the size of area you are talking about..

Promoter.. thanks. Bye!!

yes this is the simple version. but in mose cases that is the extent
of. "Police Planning"
they then are told the Date of the show and who is on the Bill
I have worked (and tailgated) where I have heard one officer
ask another. "So who is on tonight?" more than once.
