When we were in Indy for the concert last year. we were told that last year was the last year for Deer Creek- It was being torn down for houses or condos or something. Does anyone know if there is any other place that would be a possibility for Jimmy to play this year.

I can be the first Indy resident to chime in... yes!

Verizon Wireless Music Center (aka) Deer Creek has lived to play another year after it was unable to be sold. They are just now starting to announce the 2008 schedule.

Kenny Chesney announced Monday that he'll be playing the new 70,000 seat stadium in downtown Indianapolis, Lucas Oil Stadium in Sept. of 2008. For the past four years, he's played at VWMC (24,000+) and sold out each one. Of course, he is tending to play a lot of NFL stadiums these days.

So what does that mean for Jimmy?

Well, I'd say that leaves two options for Jimmy -- but regardless he'll be back to Indy in 2008, IMO. If he plays at the new stadium, it will be August or September after it officially opens. Otherwise, he could easily play at Verizon at any point during the summer.

So plan to visit the Hoosier state again this summer because we've got plenty of venues, and if you've been here in the past, and the concert is at VWMC, be prepared to take new routes. They have greatly changed the traffic pattern around the area due to a new open-air mall, so be prepared to find a new route... or as always, show up early and tailgate all day long!

Long story short, VWMC is open for business in 2008. Hope to see everyone!

I am so glad, if it iis again at verizon I do not have to worry about the route. we always take the bus and go in with the Indy PHC. Been on their bus and at their party every year that they have had one. so for us at least that is also part of the Indy tradition.. Here in Cincy we PARTY in the lot. but there in Indy we ride the bus and leave the driving to them that knows where they are going....................

I dimly remember a bus ride...

I just saw yesterday that Kenny Chesney is slated to play at Lucas Oil Stadium. I would LOVE for the first concert to be Jimmy Buffett.....that would be way cool!!!!!!!!!!!!! The roof is retractable so it wouldn't totally be enclosed. That would just be awesome.....

if you just close your eyes, add 6" of height and take away the cowboy hat... and crank your iPod real loud, a Kenny Cheeseney concert could be like a Buffett concert.. :D

I hope Jimmy was watching the half time show at Indy this last weekend and had a chance to see the NO CLASS Indianapolis denizens booing a 14 year old girl who was being announced as winning the Punt, Pass, and Kick competittion in her division because she was from New England. I hope Jimmy then decides to never play the totally classless city again. You people in Indianapolis should be ashamed of yourselves and your city.

you mean like the completely classless bastards wearing BoSox gear in Tampa at a Rays game two years ago? Making life miserable for the locals because they had sticks shoved so far up their collective butts that when they burped, it smelled like a pine forest? It was spectacular after that display of classless behaviour to watch the Sox fans trudge out, the victims of a sound drubbing.

Perhaps, using your analogy, given what I saw, Jimmy should bag playing in New England?

get a grip.

no, not there.

really.

stop.

and that isn't a grip.

tho it could be construed as choking..

I won't defend their actions, I wasn't there and didn't see it. Did they give the kids a hard time to? I know I've seen it at sporting events in the parking lots from both sides amongst adults. I'm a big Pats fan and I have been known to give friendly ribbing to oppossing fans and to chastise fellow Pats fans when they get a little over zealous with the digs. But I digress, regardless of the city you just don't do that to kids. Booing the poor kid just takes it beyond the realm of acceptable behavior. It's indefensible and yet you give the impression you are defending it.

Personally, I wouldn't care if Jimmy never played Boston again. Don't care for the place myself, just as long as he makes it to New England.

Tthe girl was standing in the RCA Dome, during a playoff game, with a New England Patriots jersey on. Think a Browns jersey wouldn't get booed at a Steelers game? Pick your rivalry ... it'd happen.

I really do hope Jimmy decides where to play based on moral grounds in 2008. I have a feeling he'd be a little bit leery of illegal video taping at Gillette...

Enjoy your tainted Super Bowl. And thanks for ruining a good thread.

Heaven forbid he look at the Mitchell report. Between the fact that Clemens and Pettitte were named, Radomski worked for the Mets. Guess I'm travelling to the next few Buffett shows.

Hey the NFL chose the shirt not the kid. If people in Pittsburg or New England chose to action like the jerks in Indianapolis did I'd have choice words for them to, but they haven't done so. This wasn't some adult or pro-football player, we're talking about a kid. But I guess some of you don't have issues with the verbal abuse of a child, but I do.

You enjoy your run on your back to back Superbowl title now that your team leader Peyton Manning no longer chokes in the big game.

Jimmy, please don't play in Foxboro. They're evil, they taped with a cheap video camera instead of one of those good ones with the really good zoom feature from the endzone or the coaches booth.

Ah, but it's all good. Nobody hates a loser.

How about that little place in Speedway, not sure if there are enough seats but you could get in a couples holes at intermission.....

I am going back to the: You have an interesting logic path that I am not really able to get heads or tails out of at this time, given your advancement of it on a Buffett webpage. Perhaps you could take this over to the Indysucks.com page, or the NENEfansdrool.com page.

Have a nice day.

I was excited when I read that Deer creek was closed, then you ruined my day by saying it would remain open.

By far the worst venue in the country. I hate that place with a passion and never could understand how that craphole got a concert every year.

I have some pretty hazy memories of good times there...

I have not been to every venue in the country to judge. but I can't complain. It was very similar to Cincinnati"s Riverbend in the layout and we have always had a good time there.
