Mottola-Buffett wrote:If I hear you correctly, Creeky, you mentioned that the "real" James William Buffett was on-line yesterday afternoon because you recognize his username. So that means he is registered under one of these names (I happened to be online at the time):

alphabits

CrznDnUS1
diverg
lostshakerofsalt66
magnus & Mr. Moon

Now I don't know a lot of these fine people yet, but I'm sure I could eliminate a few. Anyone care to work the process of elimination?
Or shall we just keep the allure of the mystery?

What that means is that if Jimmy ever did post here and especially if it was an IP address of a know residence, it would be easily traceable. There is software that can pinpoint who and where the poster is located.
There's also software and websites that can hide your IP address, making it appear you're posting from just about anywhere. Plus, if you're on dialup, your IP address probably changes every time you log in. You can also change a permanent connection like cable internet, too.

Why would Jimmy go to such trouble to hide the fact that he's on-line or hidden or whatever? What would be the harm in him just "popping in" once in a while to say hello and add his two cents? We don't bite :pirate:
I for one would find it pretty cool of him to interact once in a while. After all, HERE WE ARE. :D

But isn't that what makes Jimmy so cool... that he's just a regular guy at heart and that he appreciates his fans and is accessible to them? At least that's the Jimmy Buffett I've come to "know".

So if JB is lurking, or if he has someone in KW checking every day, then
1. He knew about the birthday book last year long before he recieved it
2. He still has not said THANK YOU!

There would be more than one person registered at the ISP that he would be using - that is a fact - so there is probably more than one BN/er registered at that ISP. The fact is that this email addy/IP or whatever - is not of a name that would be connected to him.

"Palmetto... you're cracking me up. Tell us more!! Are you a private investigator in your other life? "

No, but a former job required quite a bit of back-trailing investigatory work.

The term wrigleyville keeps coming up in my searches.

I'm also interested in comments from sailingagain, ZeroDuval, pirate@43, and ragtopW.

So you were the one that gave Geraldo Rivera all his information about Al Capone's vault.
