NO Intermission Shows This Year?

Post by maufro »

Did we see a new trend over the last 7 shows of the Bama Tour; where the band played on while Jimmy took a one song break instead of the full intermission?

I know this was standard procedure if it was raining during an outdoor show and at venues which have noise/time ordinances. I attended the 2 Tampa shows and it was great weather, I believe the Irvine show had rain, not sure about Waikiki and the Filmore was a rather special show. Though the MGM PATEOTW shows did have an intermission (according to this site).

Do you think the days of a full band intermission are over?

What are your feelings about the intermission - if it's gone or stays?

Selfishly . . . Its shortening the moment 10-15 minutes.

Realistically . . . we're not losing much in the ways of the performance. Keep in mind that Nadirahs album is due soon so this years intermission may be a 2-3 song set of Nadirah. Thats a good trade for a actual performance stoppage.
The Parrot Dice Lounge kinda like a mirage. Here today and gone tomorrow. You should stop by and say hello when visiting Chicago on tour.

no intermissions are bad for concession sales, which jimmy gets a cut of...

Considering how many people I saw on the floor of Gilette going to the concession stand during the show, I can say he isn't doing too shabby.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

Maybe AF, but if different Coral Reefers were showcased at halftime rather than a total music stoppage, I think it'd be good for both those artists and Jimmy overall.

A lot of folks will still get up to get drinks & go to the restroom simply because Jimmy's not singing (their loss).
The rest of us know which Jimmy songs we don't mind missing to take our breaks.

You know, I bet there is no intermission these days because Buffett is in the best shape of his life...he does not need an intermission.

I hope to be that cut when I'm 61...or for that matter, at my age right now (43)!

I don't care either way, honestly. I just want him to come somewhere that's closer than a 12 hour drive (Vegas or Dallas)....

There was no intermission in Houston, but he had an opening band with Robert Earl Keen. No intermission and Irvine, CA eith, and the weather was perfect. No rain at all. Nice, Sunny and cool on that Saturday.

I'd like it to stay. I see it as a built-in bathroom break. If he gets rid of the intermission, then I'll just have to wait for WDWGDAS to head for the bathroom. :D

I NEED an intermission from dancing. After the first song last year, I already had a stitch in my side--but I plugged on. I should probably tried to get in a little better shape before the concerts. :D

The bathrooms are too crowded at intermission anyway. Wait for a bad song, like Scarlet Begonias, 5 O'Clock Somewhere or Cheeseburger In Paradise.
