It's coming down now. I figure we got about another hour before they call it.....
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

We've got snow down in DC today- the kind with big puffy flakes that make everything really pretty (until you're slipping on the stuff or driving in it). Anyway, I called my parents on Long Island about something else and they were shocked we had snow and they didn't.lilsalty wrote:We've had nothin' in the way of snow up on Long Island...threats of snow but nothing materializing. Not that I'm complaining. It was in the high 50s and low 60s recently!

dude it was so much fun standing out in the middle of the street in our subdivision with snow falling all around and the neighborhood kids building a snowman while I stood there with my Cruzan Single Barrel and Sprite Zero mix watching themCrazy Navy Flyer wrote:It's turned to rain south of Atlanta, freezing rain, sleet and 30 degrees. We're supposed to get another two inches tonight and more tomorrow with blowing snow.
Temperature forecasts are supposed to be anywhere from -25 to -40 below with the wind chill.
AND I'LL KEEP SAYING IT-
Gotta love this G.D. global warming.
(((((Garry)))))))
Hope you stay warm!!!

Yeah, during the SIX AND A HALF YEARS I lived in Memphis, they got a TOTAL of about half an inch of snow. The most they would ever get at one time would be a light dusting. They'd close the schools, close the malls (THAT wasn't necessarily a BAD thing), and did everything but call out the National Guard.Karacal wrote:Garry, I've never seen that much snow!!! (except when we went to Alaska)!!!! If a few flakes start falling here, they start closing schools.....
Last night the actual temperature here was -5 below with wind chills of -20.
Beginning today, we're supposed to have wind chills of -25 to -40 all weekend.
and would you believe I gave up a good job & home in HAWAII for this
