Hey folks....well, after an up and down few days, I'm home.
It was definitely the most stressful show I've ever been to. As you may or may not know, my loyal concert going sidekick Brandon (KyParrothead) had a major mishap early into our tailgate.
There was a small generator powering the stereo that was playing. Well, something went amiss and it caught fire. That spread to the front end of his truck. Someone yelled FIRE and Brandon went running. He tried moving the flaming generator away from the truck with his foot, when he did, the gas tank on it ruptured and he was engulfed in a fireball. He received 2nd degree burns on both legs and his left foot. This was around noon on concert day. EMS arrived on the scene and he and his mom (who was tailgating with us and is a nurse practicioner) were rushed to a hospital in nearby Cincinnati.
He gave me frequent text message updates throughout the day and I could tell he was in good spirits (it was either that or the Vicoden was mixing with the beers he'd already drank

). Around 5pm he text me that he and his mom were on the way to Walmart to buy him some new clothes (his were burnt and smelled of gas/fire/smoke/etc) and he was coming back to the tailgate!
Around 6pm a taxi pulled up to the tailgate and out he came, bandaged and sore but alive and smiling! We got him a seat, some food and a few beers...doctors orders, seriously

I did a walk around and talked to several Riverbend personnel and the local police but no one could figure out how to get a golf cart for us to get him into the venue without an act of congress (thanks Riverbend, you folks were useless!

)
So, 7pm we grabbed a couple of road beers to ease the pain and started the long walk to the venue. We got up to the gates before the line started forming and got to our seats. He and I were sitting in club seats which turned out to be on a aisle...that was a lucky break since people wouldn't be walking into him.
From then on we were treated to 1 of the best setlists we've ever heard! Wow, what a show it was!

The show ended and we took him home to Lexington, KY. We had originally planned to spend Friday-Sunday camping at Lake Cumberland so that plan obviously changed! Friday morning we got him to the hospital in LexVegas to get his wounds scrubbed and re-dressed. We (his brother Jason, his g/f Mindy, our friend Stefanie and myself) set him up poolside and all had a couple of cocktails while reflecting.
On the upside, the prognosis is good. The doctors said there shouldn't be much scarring and he should be back to normal after everything heals up. He's self employed so he'll unfortunately be laid up for a week or so as he can't walk without pain yet.
Ok, that's about all I've got for now. I've known this guy for 12 years and traveled to over 25 concerts with him...he and his family are top notch. You're my boy B...get your ass healed up for MOTM...Bourbon Day awaits us!
