Is it time to go back again???

I know I didn't meet everyone but to all of those I did get to meet this year, look forward to building on it for next year.
Unfortunately, the other half of our group was late getting in so we wound up in the Riverdowns lot, wasn't bad, alot of very friendly people :D ! I can tell you that the walk from Riverdowns to Kellogg/Sutton looks shorter when your driving but it was worth the walk! Twice!!
Time to start planning for next year!!! Thanks again to everyone I did get to meet. And I have someones parrothead bra, it came back on my hat, so if your missing it I'll get it back to you next year :D

Words that were heard:

I can see your sunburn in the dark.

I can't beleive he played "God's Own Drunk".

We need 84 people to play a game.

You need to put on sunscreen.

I want one of everything.

I have to take a picture of that. (referring to people passed out on sidewalk with feet in road.)

I do not have red hair. (you will always be a red-head to me)

Why won't you answer my text's?

It's hot.

Raleigh was hotter.

My feet are dirty NEO would have a fit. (I cleaned them) [smilie=beadygrinner.gif]

As time goes on i am sure I will remember more.

Thanks for all of you all stopping by to make sure I was ok after the fire! BN is full of great people and I got to see that first hand again.

Good times folks! Glad I was able to make it back to the show after getting back from the hospital! LOVED the setlist!

Can't wait to see you all in Key West (least some of you) and probably a random show in between assuming I can find the moola.

Great time as always!

Hey folks....well, after an up and down few days, I'm home.

It was definitely the most stressful show I've ever been to. As you may or may not know, my loyal concert going sidekick Brandon (KyParrothead) had a major mishap early into our tailgate.

There was a small generator powering the stereo that was playing. Well, something went amiss and it caught fire. That spread to the front end of his truck. Someone yelled FIRE and Brandon went running. He tried moving the flaming generator away from the truck with his foot, when he did, the gas tank on it ruptured and he was engulfed in a fireball. He received 2nd degree burns on both legs and his left foot. This was around noon on concert day. EMS arrived on the scene and he and his mom (who was tailgating with us and is a nurse practicioner) were rushed to a hospital in nearby Cincinnati.

He gave me frequent text message updates throughout the day and I could tell he was in good spirits (it was either that or the Vicoden was mixing with the beers he'd already drank  ). Around 5pm he text me that he and his mom were on the way to Walmart to buy him some new clothes (his were burnt and smelled of gas/fire/smoke/etc) and he was coming back to the tailgate!

Around 6pm a taxi pulled up to the tailgate and out he came, bandaged and sore but alive and smiling! We got him a seat, some food and a few beers...doctors orders, seriously  I did a walk around and talked to several Riverbend personnel and the local police but no one could figure out how to get a golf cart for us to get him into the venue without an act of congress (thanks Riverbend, you folks were useless! )

So, 7pm we grabbed a couple of road beers to ease the pain and started the long walk to the venue. We got up to the gates before the line started forming and got to our seats. He and I were sitting in club seats which turned out to be on a aisle...that was a lucky break since people wouldn't be walking into him.

From then on we were treated to 1 of the best setlists we've ever heard! Wow, what a show it was! :P :P :P The show ended and we took him home to Lexington, KY. We had originally planned to spend Friday-Sunday camping at Lake Cumberland so that plan obviously changed! Friday morning we got him to the hospital in LexVegas to get his wounds scrubbed and re-dressed. We (his brother Jason, his g/f Mindy, our friend Stefanie and myself) set him up poolside and all had a couple of cocktails while reflecting.

On the upside, the prognosis is good. The doctors said there shouldn't be much scarring and he should be back to normal after everything heals up. He's self employed so he'll unfortunately be laid up for a week or so as he can't walk without pain yet.

Ok, that's about all I've got for now. I've known this guy for 12 years and traveled to over 25 concerts with him...he and his family are top notch. You're my boy B...get your ass healed up for MOTM...Bourbon Day awaits us! :pirate:

wow, i just got home from possibly the best week of my life (cincy and alpine)

first of all.....

great to see all of my pals again, flock, ringling, kev....everybody! great to meet new friends for the first time...citcat (yes, i wore the kybeads with honor  ), big phan, martyritaville, krystal, marnin grita guy, all of the southern illinois peeps and anybody i left out. the tailgate was a blast as usual and glad to hear brandon is ok!

now for the show....
without a doubt, this was my best setlist ever. so many songs that jimmy had not played in years, he really mixed it up for the riverbend 20th anniversary.

oh yeah...i almost forgot.....

JIMMY PLAYED GOD'S OWN DRUNK!!!!!!!

when jimmy strummed the first "teaser" chord, my heart stopped. i looked at flock and said, "dude, that was my song." then jimmy started talking about that great big yellow moon up in the cincy sky.......i'm not sure what happened next...it's all a big blur  i remember flock and i hugging each other, jumping up and down, screaming at the top of our lungs

that was only my 2nd time getting god's own drunk and i have been going to see jimmy since 1987. i know i was the happiest parrothead in cincy thursday night. i am still on cloud 9!

best show ever!

see y'all next year!!!!!!!
