LuLu’s at Homeport Marina is celebrating four years at its location on the Intracoastal Waterway in Gulf Shores with an extensive lineup of events on Fat Tuesday, Feb 5, 2008. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. with the Gulf Shores Mardi Gras Parade. Lucy Buffett will lead the LuLu’s float featuring live music from the Wes Loper Band. The annual event begins on Highway 59 at the Intracoastal Canal Bridge and will conclude at the main beach area.

After the parade, revelers are invited to socialize, relax and enjoy live Mardi Gras-style entertainment and great food at LuLu’s, the upscale dive turned “mecca” where Buffett’s famous brother, Jimmy, can be spied from time to time. The anniversary cake will be cut and served at 12:55 p.m., followed by foot tapping and booty shaking music from the Lafayette, La band, J.J. Caillier and the Zydeco Knockouts. Caillier will perform from 1 until 4 p.m.

LuLu’s will host an author signing event between 1 and 3 p.m., featuring, Crazy Sista Cooking ~ Cuisine and Conversation with Lucy Buffett. Crazy Sista Cooking is the debut cookbook for Buffett and includes more than 150 recipes that attract thousands of hungry patrons to LuLu’s. Cookbooks can be purchased at the LuLu’s gift shop.

The 4th Annual LuLu’s and Homeport Marina Mardi Gras Boat Parade is expected to float past Buffett’s restaurant around 4 p.m., giving patrons the opportunity to catch beads. Festivities will continue dockside at 5 p.m. with a performance from Scott Holt, a guitar virtuoso who honed his skills while playing for the legendary Buddy Guy. Holt has also shared stages with rock and roll greats Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana, and is the perfect ending to another incredibly fun Mardi Gras Day at LuLu’s.

Thanks Cap'n. Now if we could only move Fat Tuesday to Fat Saturday... this might be a possibility for this Hoosier.

I'll just have to wait and see LuLu in June...

Hope its a good time, though!
