This is an awesome place. I stopped there this past June on the way to Key West and picked up one of these limebombers. I told the guy working there that I traveled the whole way from PA just for the limebomber and now I was headin' back to PA since my mission was complete! He got a kick out of that. We talked for awhile and I learned he was from Cleveland OH and got tired of the rat race and moved down to the Keys about 7 years ago and never looked back. Lucky!!

It's increasingly rare to run into a true "conch" down there these days.
When you do, usually they are planning a move to either central FL or another state!

Maybe my problem in Marathon was not getting more than a block or two off US1.

They've been passing ordinances slowly in some areas of the Keys that require a developer to build a certain number of "affordable" housing units for each luxury unit approved.
The idea is that the rich folk are going to need the services of the working people, and they have to live somewhere.
The "affordable" units have been modulars for the most part.
Don't know if moving down there and working in the service industries ends up qualifying as getting out of the rat race though
