Incredible Chopper Landing

This photo was taken by a soldier in Afghanistan of a helo rescue mission. The pilot is a PA National Guard guy who flies EMS choppers in civilian life. Now how many people on the planet you reckon could set the ass end of a chopper down on the roof top of a shack on a steep mountain cliff and hold it there while soldiers load wounded men in the rear.
If this does not impress you ... nothing ever will. Gives me the chills and a serious case of the vertigo .... I can't even imagine having the nerve ... much less the talent and ability ...
God Bless our military.
Didn't check Snopes.. it was just a great picture.

Gotta forward it to the Keet.
He's so busy with fixed wing flight training that he's been thinking about
quitting Army ROTC.
He's not on contract yet, so he has that option.
Thing is, they have such a shortage of CFI's (certified flight instructors) at WMU and everywhere else I guess that they are offering the same tuition and room/ board scholarships for student/flight instructors as the military is for a 6 1/2 year commitment.
That pic should re-stoke his interest in Army rotorcraft!

Damb......I am sitting here thinking about the weights and balance and realizing that he can only be doing it on "feel"..... granted if they are jumping onboard and keeping the "new" weight over the rear wheels then it is a little easier....but....HOLY CRAP batman!!!! nice piece of work!!!!! I need to forward this to an academy buddy that I just got back in touch with who just returned from doing medic-evac in Iraq ....
Thanks for that Penny!!!!!

The photo is true but the story isn't. They are not evacuating injured soldiers, they are rounding up prisoners. Still cool nonetheless.
