Not sure what years but I think it was around 1985. Marshall Chapman was Jimmy's opener. Some of her exploits with Jimmy are in her book........
Good Bye little Rock N Roller.
she is an amazing performer.!!! and a really great lady

She opened for him a few times in 96 too... Banana Wind Tour. I saw her and Tim Krekel for sure in Houston and Austin.
I also saw Todd Snider open for Jimmy in 1995 in Baton Rouge.

Didn't she also open for him some on the Domino College tour? Alpine that year was my first concert and she played then.

I remember Marshall Chapman opening for him. But I think it was in the 80's. it could be the 90's though as things are getting cloudy for me in my old age.

Last year at Gillette we saw Toot & the Maytals open for him, and he brought Elo Ferrier out for a song halfway thru the show.

I remember Marshall Chapman playing with Jimmy
during the Domino College tour too. That was the
year I was front row for his Great Woods shows.
Eddie Angel was one of her guitarists. He now tours
with Los Straitjackets. Marshall was great!

If I can recall properly, I really believe that Little Feat opened for him once at Blossom YEARS ago. As I age, the memories get a little hazier--couldn't be the rum!

I love that Jimmy almost always does not have an opener. No waiting while the opener's gear is moved offstage and no regrets in tailgating as long as u can without feeling like "maybe I should've checked out (fill in band name).
If you have pavillion seats it's like clockwork - tailgate till about 7 or 7:30 and then list towards the show.
At 8 pm (most venues) after the basketball guy is done, the taped songs hit Hot, Hot, Hot and those in the know start cheering. I love it when newbies look around in confusion wondering why the faithful are cheering such an otherwise goofy song.
And then out walks Jimmy and the CRB. What will they play - BEG or a classic like Great Heart (even though it's technically a "cover") or something completely off the beaten path.
No opening acts! Jimmy is all we need, IMHO.
I know this doesn't answer the posted question. But it's 5 degrees here in W Michigan and I needed to visualize that to give me a boost to the day!

IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY I THINK THE LITTLE RIVER BAND OPENED IN THE LATE 70'S OR EARLY 80'S. IT WAS WHEN JIMM HAD ONE OF HIS BROKEN LEG TOURS. THIE CONCERT WAS AT THE OLD MIAMI BASEBALL STADIUM.

Sorry - I was at the show at the Jake, but was too busy looking to score a beer to pay attention to the opening act (was still underage). Wonder if he will ever play the "Pro"?

If I remember correctly, in about 1990/1991/1992 ish, he had someone open for him at the Star Lake Ampitheter (in Pittsburg) named Zack something? Its on the tip of my tounge, but it wont come to me.

I was there, too. I don't believe Jimmy was the headliner, I think it was Steve Miller. The year before was Andrew Gold, then Jimmy, then the Eagles. So you really couldn't say "Andrew Gold opened for Jimmy" because they both were opening bands for the Eagles.
