did I go too far?
Every work day I sit in the Cafe at work for my last break
I have a cookie (Cake,pie,brownie...) and some milk..
my midday snack..
now those of you who have met me I am large.. Fat.. overweight
el blimpo... whatever..
So I am sitting in the Cafe near the Smoking patio watching
the weather and getting some air from the outside
this woman( who I do not know) walks by (from having a smoke or two) and says. "you will never lose weight if you keep eating that stuff"
now I have never said a word to her other then Hello
she ... well she is a poster child for the before picture of a Weight watchers ad.
my response??
" well I thought that smoking kept you thin .. you better go and have two or three more"
for some reason she stormed off.. is she mad at me???
did I go too far????

Never.
I remember years ago, my mother really wanted to see what the hub bub was all about the day after thanksgiving for the shopping. She begged me to go, I didn't really wanna go because I had the day off. Well she promised me breakfast and I had to add I would not be accounted responsible for any comments I made while in stores. She agreed.
So we are in a Target at around 7ish. Just walkin up and down the aisles. I over hear this one guy ask his wife about this little toy for the kids ( probably had all daughters--lots of doll stuff) I do not think he wanted to be there either. But getting back to the story---I noticed what they had in their CARTS. While walking past her, I just made a comment in a normal voice..... "Like it f****** matters lady, you have 3 carts full of CRAP that your kids will probably be sick of in 2 days.
The husband had sorta a smile when I said that, and quite a few other customers laughed with amazement.
Since than I have been very lucky that my mother has never asked me to go shopping the day after thanksgiving ever again, and she hasn't been back either. She even laughed when I made that comment.

perhaps calling her "Rotundo, the Amazing Circus Clown" was bad form, but she started it...

If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!
I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

Being a "la blimpa" myself, I need to warn you that she may have had no idea
that her comment was out of line. My mom was like that. Expressing "sincere
concern" in a very offensive way and then being shocked and hurt that her
comment was taken badly. Maybe if more people had responded in the spirit you
did, she might have learned and stopped being "caringly hurtful". (But I doubt it.)
I just hope your comment doesn't cause you any trouble with the powers that be.![gt-happyup [smilie=gt-happyup.gif]](./images/smilies/gt-happyup.gif)
