virtual waiting room
i've been waiting in the red sox virtual waiting room for 20 minutes shy of 7 hours now. good thing i'm sick as a dog and wasn't planning on going anywhere. i hope i get those tickets or they'll hear me all the way on the other coast. this is ridiculous. i mean, there has got to be a better way.
i swore that this year i won't go the season w/o attending a game.
i wonder if the yankees or some other team has such waits.
if you care to comment, please refrain from obnoxious comments about the sox.

Re: virtual waiting room
I don't even bother getting tickets the day they go on sale. I live close enough that I will go buy them on game day and yes, I have gotten tickets on game day at Fenway.MacPhin wrote:i've been waiting in the red sox virtual waiting room for 20 minutes shy of 7 hours now. good thing i'm sick as a dog and wasn't planning on going anywhere. i hope i get those tickets or they'll hear me all the way on the other coast. this is ridiculous. i mean, there has got to be a better way.

If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Each of the past 3 years, I have gone into the virtual waiting room for Cubs tickets and each year it has been at least 6 hours before I even had a chance at a ticket.
But I have gone to 5 or 6 games each season, so I do get tickets, just not for the most popular games.

Around the time the Sox signed Pedro Martinez and every game started selling out I decided that I would not under any circumstance pay money for a baseball game a half a year or more ahead of time. There is no point.
Like Ravi said - get them the day of the game . . . then you know the weather, who is playing, who is pitching, etc.
You can get them:
A. At the box office.
B. From people on the street for less money then on line (no taxes, service fees, shipping . . . 45$ ticket for 60$ on the street IS in fact cheaper.)
C. Or you can just walk through the back door of Copperfield's Bar on Yawkey Way for free . . . and risk getting arrested . . . BUT it is still better than paying money for a baseball game a half a year or more ahead of time.

The sell them in stages...in December they sold 4-game pax and select games in April, May and September, yesterday they sold tickets for the remaining games EXCEPT opening day, Yankee games and tickets on the monster and RF deck. Tickets for those will be sold separate as part of a lottery.
I have a season ticket package so I didn't bother trying to get more yesterday, my tickets are renewed every year. I have been in the Virtual Waiting room hell and it is not fun. People who complain about Ticketmaster have no idea how bad a virtually waiting room is.
But as others said, you can get tickets on most days the day of the game at the box office for face value, the only extra cost you have to pay is "time" you will have to wait inline for up to 2 hours then once you get tickets you have to go right in.

Beautiful ballpark, plenty of things to see and do around the Inner Harbor, but an owner who is attorney that uses the team as a tax shelter and could care less about winning

jen, can you give me info on that. i've heard of this but when i went last season to try to find it on the website, i must have missed it.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:Yeah plus the tickets resold on the Sox website.BottleofRum wrote:The sell them in stages...in December they sold 4-game pax and select games in April, May and September, yesterday they sold tickets for the remaining games EXCEPT opening day, Yankee games and tickets on the monster and RF deck. summation of vwr, left computer on all day and night. didn't get in until about 6 am, only to be booted out when it came time to actually buy the tickets. we have tried and tried again and have gotten as far as buying the tickets to be told that there is too much traffic to handle the transaction, to "please resubmit" i have finally given up as of noon today. i'm so disappointed.

For the box office choice, if you're within the first 250 people in line at Gate E, you are guaranteed tickets for that game. After that, it depends on whether or not the teams will not use their allotment of tickets. If not, they get released to the general public. You can start getting in line 4 hours before the game (technically) and I think about an hour after that, the Sox will give the first 250 people a slip of paper with a number on it. Those people can get out of line to take care of business, if need be, but MUST be back in line prior to the opening of the box office. The box office opens 2 hours before the game and once you buy the ticket, you MUST enter Fenway, you will not be allowed back outside of the gates until after the game.drunkpirate66 wrote:Around the time the Sox signed Pedro Martinez and every game started selling out I decided that I would not under any circumstance pay money for a baseball game a half a year or more ahead of time. Season ticket holders can resell tickets for games they're not going to attend. I think you spend about $50 to join whatever club it is that lets you buy the tickets. You'll never get seats for really good games, but there are seats, and at face....MacPhin wrote:jen, can you give me info on that. i've heard of this but when i went last season to try to find it on the website, i must have missed it.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:Yeah plus the tickets resold on the Sox website.

I don't see the option on the website at the moment. Either it goes into effect when the season starts or they've scrapped it, but since they make money off it for very little effort, I doubt they scrapped it.
