Winterizing Jimmy

Post by allucaneatbuffett »

Hi all. Just curious about something. Typically every year around November or so, when the weather gets cold (I live in MD), I tend to put away my Buffett CD's for the year. It isn't until March or April, when tix usually go on sale, that I break them out and play them non stop. I just don't enjoy listening to JB throughout the winter for some reason. But all summer long, his CD's are constantly playing in my car.

Maybe I just get tired of listening to him by the time winter gets here, not sure. Do you listen to JB year 'round, or do you cover him up and "winterize him" until spring time???

The music helps me get through our "normal" -30 winter temps. [smilie=shake.gif]

Ditto here, although it's not -30 quite as often.

Got in the truck this morning, locked her into 4X4 so I could get to work (big snow last night) and hit play on the MP3... "Tin Cup Chalice" just makes it all seem a little better. 8)

I play him along with other trop-rock music a lot year round. Right now in my 6 disc in the car are 2 discs burned with fav Buffett songs, 1 Jim Morris, Far Side of the World, Live in Key West and 1 that my keet burned with Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift. My Ipod has all the CDs JB has ever recorded with other music, but it's 75% trop-rock.
We play RM during dinner and afterward. I play it all day at work.

We listen all year round Sirius rocks!. In the winter, it helps to keep me from shooting 6 holes in my freezer and keeps me from getting cabin fever, hockey game on or not!
So bless me father, yes I have sinned.
Given the chance I'll probably do it again

I absolutely know what you mean!!! I go through an annual 1-2 month stage around November where I let Jimmy rest up for the remainder of Winter. Which sadly, for me in Michigan lasts through May...But when I do bring him back I get Spring fever like no other and it helps push me through!

All the time, no matter what the season.
It's always good to have a permanent reminder of those far too temporary feelings.

There is always at least on JB disc in the player. It just helps you escape to some place warm.

There is something about driving in the snow listening to him singing about OPH!

I think I sometimes "winterize" Jimmy. I usually wait until it gets up to 55 or 60 degrees, put Buffett in the CD player and rock out. But often times I listen to him to help me get through the winter. It just depends.

I agree with the people who said they listen to him in the winter because it helps them get through the cold weather, not to mention I just enjoy listening to his music anyway.

I live in Florida so I may winterize for one or two days at a time, but as soon as it hits seventy again like in the coming days it's back out again.

Year round. I play it at work to get through the day. We play it on
poker night in my brother's basement in the winter. When it's nice we
move it out on the deck. :pirate:

Interesting question! :D
I wouldn't say that I listen to Buffett music any more or less during the winter than any other time of year.

I do listen to JB year round, but ContinentalDrifterIII and I have some winter policies regarding tropical/summery cocktails. Here are the rules: No Coronas, margaritas, or other tropical drinks between the 1st day of fall and May 5th. May 5th is opening day for all drinks tropical. Exception: you may drink aforementioned beverages if you happen to be in a location where there are palm trees (i.e. Tortola in April, Florida in December, or South Carolina in March).

Almost every day of the year. It helps me get thru the MA winters, along w/an ocean scented candle..........I'm a dreamer.

Funny story........my son tends to put Jimmy away for the winter, 9tells me tjhere's something wrong w/me listening to Jimmy in the winter  ) but one of our past horrid storms, he called me on his way home from work, I started to tell him he shouldn't be driving and talking on the phone......he said he wasn't driving........was stuck in traffic, over an hour in the same spot :-? , BUT .......... He was listening to Jimmy during this snow storm.........he's starting to get it :D

Don't do winter...and even if I did...well, what do you think?

JB all day, every day, all year.

Now, I do have 850 JB songs on my iPod, so I switch it up a bit.

Christmas Island at Christmas,

Aspen 2006 during the winter,

Tinley Park during the summer....

variety is the spice of life!

I sort the music in my iPod alphabetically by album title so when I'm on the train every day I listen to whatever comes up. In the office, I listen to CDs most of the time, whatever I happen to grab before I leave for the train station in the morning. It's different all the time. I don't wear the same clothes every day, I don't eat the same food every day. Why would I listen to the same music every day?
