I was deleating cookies on my computer, when my screen went blue. I could do nothing, nada, zip. I went and took it to one of those big chain stores (not the one that fired some higher paid employees and then hired them back for less $$$) but the other one. $300 later I got my computer back. But, it's tough getting back some of the data. I paid over $1500 for softwear to do home inspecting. Now I have to try and find the disc, with password. Most of the data was put on a disc to try and re-install. Man! It's killing me!. I have a lot of music on my ipod, if I plug it into my computer, will it erase my songs? or will it let me add more music? Please let Me know. Thanks Ron. aka moeron.

Unless I'm mistaken, when you connect an iPod to a new computer (or a computer that may not recognize your iPod as yours may not), it should give you an option to specify whether you'd like to manage your music on the iPod automatically or maunally. If you select automatically, it will erase your music because it will sync your iPod to whatever it has in the library on the hard drive. If you select manually, you should be okay. That's how it has worked for me in the past.

There is a bunch of ways to get your songs back on your computer from your iPod if you want.
I have used this for my girlfriend's computer:

Just download the free trial, there is no difference except that a little window pops up and you have to push a "continue" button after every 50 or so songs it copies to your computer. I transferred all 2000 of her songs back to her computer.
