Jones Beach

I'm hoping that this year he will be returning to Jones Beach. I know he seems to play here every other year and his last time through was in 2006. I hope he doesn't count playing Madison Square Garden last year as a visit to this area, thats just not the same as seeing him at the beach. I know he usually takes his mid summer tour break at his place on Long Island at the end of June into early July. It seems every time he has played the JB theater recently it seems to coincide with that...I'm sitting here with my fingers crossed hoping this is the year. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I'm hoping for Jones Beach too! I love the venue - the breeze, the salt air.. we're seeing Jethro Tull there on 8/9.

I'm actually hoping it'll be later in July if it happens....he's got to wait until I come back from Italy!

The last time he played Jones Beach, 2006, it was the Saturday before July 4. The time before that, 2004, it was the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.

If he does July again I'll give it to myself as a birthday present, this is one I've always wanted to do in the short time I've been going to see Jimmy.

We've got the deconstructed tiki bar in the basement (complete with bimini ring game) waiting to be reconstructed for Jones Beach 08... I'd like to predict a date...I'll say the first Saturday in August.....that would rule.

The last time he played Jones Beach 2 years in a row was 1997/98. Since then it's been only the even numbered years. And without going back to check, I think the 2000 and 2002 shows were both the Tuesday before the 2 Great Woods Labor Day weekend shows but since I'm old I wouldn't put money on it.

I agree this should be the Jones Beach year, it is a great venue on the water and the parking lot is incredible, lets hope for a thursday saturday two show year

I love the Jones Beach theater (or whatever its name is at the moment - I think Nokia at Jones Beach?). I remember seeing musicals there as a kid. There was a moat separating the stage from the seats. That's where the first several rows of yellow seats are now located. Guy Lombardo would arrive by boat, step off, greet the audience and then step into the orchestra pit and the show would begin. As a kid, I thought it was very cool that the stage rotated for the scenery changes! I don't remember when it turned into a concert venue. We lived 15 minutes from the beach, now I have to shlep 1 1/2 hours to get there. I miss the beach (hence the screename). Favorite Jones Beach area - West End 2!

I would like very much to make the road trip up to Jones Beach this summer. I have a very dear friend who was just diagnosed with lupus and our goal is to get her well enough to see Buffett this summer. she's from that area so it would be a great trip all the way around.

I remember the moat between the stage and the seats...it was there when I saw my first concert: Men at Work--1982. I was a wee lassie of 7. I love being so close to the ocean and seeing JB live!!

Yup on the 02 show.. In 2002, it was on his and Jane's 25th anniversary which is in late August and we got fireworks at halftime. I remember it was a Tuesday because it was my first Buffett show, and my dad went to work that day and came home early at 4 and then we packed up and went to the show (yeah we were kinda new to the whole PH thing).

We did make up for it by getting to Jones Beach in 06 at 10 in the morning.

I will be at Jones Beach whenever there is a Buffett show there this year!!

(I figured when I got tickets for Tom Petty and Steve Winwood at the Woodlands on Aug 29, Jimmy would announce an Aug 28 Jones Beach show.)

I wonder how Junior is doing these days!

In 2004 and 2006 there were a handful of us who arrived before 8:00AM. Magnificent days!!
