I actually have it but like some songs much, much more than others on it.Burny Charles wrote:Just a shot in the dark here, but I'm guessing you don't really like the latest album.jeepndd wrote:For me none of those would be on my list of must go first but if I had to choose and it was only one of these then 5:00 Somewhere.
I think I'd rather see one of these go than any in the poll:
Glory Days
Reggabilly Hill
Everybody's on the phone
On the road again
Elvis Presley Blues
Which standard would you 86?

DEFINATELY Cheeseburger In Paradise.
And if Fins were ever dropped, I can't say I'd complain either.
Pirate Looks At 40, Son of A Son of A Sailor, Margaritaville, 5:00 Somewhere, Volcano, Come Monday, and Margaritaville have GOT to stay. They're great songs. All of them.
And I have to say, I also love Brown Eyed Girl. I know I'm in the minority, but I can deal with that.

Not the case with me. I started the thread because people are always commenting that they'd like to see this song or that song dropped. Jimmy did that last year, dropped a standard. I was interested to see which current standard was least poplular.wiscoleeds wrote:Any time I see a discussion on this topic I get the impression that it's a lot of people trying to prove they're more "cultured" than the rest of us when it comes to Jimmy Buffett.
Let's be honest ALL these songs are what drive a Jimmy concert and make it the sing-along community experience so unique and soul warming.
I have no ambition to chuck out any of these songs for some obscure cut from the past.
For those of you that take BRB during these songs enjoy the fact that the lines are far shorter than when I take my BRB during the fifth cut from the latest album. And I meet a lot of good, fun people standing in the p*** line.
Cheers

For the record, I like them all. I rarely listen to Margaritaville when it comes across my iPod because I've heard it so many times, but I still like it in concert because it gets people fired up. That said, I would definitely trade hearing CIP or BEG every show for the chance to hear some of the old songs we don't hear any more. As much as I like 5 O'Clock, I would rather hear something else from time to time than hear it every show. Nothing elitist or more cultured here, just my 02 cents.

You know what'd be cool? An all acoustic, all ballad Jimmy-Mac show. I think it'd be cool to hear a slow, ballad-y version of Margaritaville. Not being facetious, it'd be fun to mix it up.

Every time I hear CIP it reminds me of the time we stumbled upon Jimmy's Margaritaville in Ocho Rios, Jamaica and we had a table under a palapa right on the powder white beach next to the gentle rolling waves azure blue waves lapping the beach. I had a cheeseburger of course along with some of the best margarita's anywhere. I love that song.

I gave Five O'Clock Somewhere a free pass for this tour season.Dezdmona wrote:Indeed.SMLCHNG wrote:BEG, with CIP a VERY close second.
The song is not so old that it seems moldy, nor does it get overplayed.
BEG is a cover, and as much as we loved it, it can drop out every now and again.
CIP is a chestnut.

Agreed. I skip Margaritaville a lot also, but especially where it's been in the setlist the past few tours at the end of the second set, I feel like the entire concert is building toward getting the entire place rocking for Margaritaville, which is kinda cool IMHO.SchoolGirlHeart wrote: For the record, I like them all. Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar
