Congrats to the winners at the Houston race this year

Of course, the people we wanted didn't win, but that's drag racing

It was great weather---not too hot and perfect cloud cover.
We were very lucky not to get rained on.

Ashley Force first female FC winner; Brown, Edwards, Hines also score

Ashley Force etched her name into the annals of drag racing history when she defeated her father, John, in the final round at the 28th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals to become the first woman to win an NHRA Funny Car title. The final was somewhat anticlimactic when John, who was seeking his 1,000th career round-win, struck the tires immediately; Ashley would have been tough to beat as she sailed to a 4.837, the second quickest time of the day.

How about that! Just weeks after the first woman wins in Funny Car we have a second female winner. Congrats to Melanie Troxel on her win at Bristol TN, aka Thunder Valley.

It is great, but I"m also sorry Mike Neff had trouble

I wanted to see a race between them.

NHRA's Scott Kalitta killed in crash

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. — Scott Kalitta died Saturday when his Funny Car crashed and burst into flames during qualifying for the Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

State police confirmed that the 46-year-old Kalitta, a two-time Top Fuel champion who had 18 career victories, was killed in the accident.

Witnesses told The Star-Ledger of Newark that Kalitta's Toyota Solara was traveling at an estimated speed of 300 mph when the crash occurred.

The Palmetto, Fla., resident started his career at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in 1982. His father, Connie Kalitta, was a longtime driver and team owner known as "The Bounty Hunter," and his cousin, Doug Kalitta, also drives competitively.

I can't believe the season is over, it seems like it just began yesterday. Congrats to the champs.

I know---I hate this weekend

Now we have nothing but rumors until cars are unveiled and drivers have changed until Feb.....
