Best Performance at Grammys?
I did not see the whole show, just about an hour of it, but was really impressed with John Fogerty, Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard. They sure rocked!!!
Were there any other standout performances or was that trio as top notch as I thought?

I didn't watch much of it so I can't say if anyone was better but for anyone who did watch I have another question. When Vince Gill won for best country album he made a comment about getting an award from a Beatle because Ringo Starr was the presenter. Then he looked off to his left and said something along the lines of "You haven't gotten that yet, have you Kanye?" and they showed Kanye West in the audience. Was that in response to something Kanye said earlier in the show?
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

I seem to remember Kanye saying that "he (West) was the greatest artist here tonight!"LIPH wrote:I didn't watch much of it so I can't say if anyone was better but for anyone who did watch I have another question. I think the Cirque du Soleil thing to the Beatles montage thingie was absolutely awesome. I actually stoped and watched the whole thing. I also decided that if I had known Cirque du Soleil was so visual I probably would have gone by now.
I just can't stop seeing the humor in the whole Amy Winehouse drama. She's got a great voice, a song called Rehab, goes to rehab, gets out to go to the Grammys, is denied entry to the US, and still wins big.

Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.
John Fogerty was good. Little Richard was good. Jerry Lee Lewis - that was disgracful - pulling him out like that. He could hardly do anything.
The show sucked. The Foo Fighters are just Valveeta cheese - very bland.
Kanye West is just another big headed mock rapper - his performance was terrible - in fact, I've never seen a good rap performance. Herbie Hancock got hurried up. The Grammytrogs are just as rude as they've ever been. Hurrying Kanye up like they did and he called them on it - I don't care for him but his point was right.
Amy Winehouse was hilarious. That was the first grammy show I've seen in eons and after last night I remember why I quit watching it.

We saw "Love" when we went to see Jimmy in Vegas in October '06. It really is a must see. It is fantabulous both visually and musically. In addition to the already super sound system in the arena, each seat has stereo speakers . . . you will not believe the sound!ph4ever wrote:I had it on while I was surfing...

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but sometimes they have really good ideas....

I believe it's in reference to comments Kanye has made in the past about hip-hop and rap being "marginalized" by mainstream music programs like the Grammys.LIPH wrote:I didn't watch much of it so I can't say if anyone was better but for anyone who did watch I have another question. "Accepting one of his four awards, West went so far as to say: "It feels good to be home here at the Grammys." ...
...But he still showed just how in control he was when accepting the award for best rap album. After meandering on the future of hip-hop, background music began to usher him off the stage as he started to speak about his mother. Donda West died unexpectedly last year at age 58.
"It would be in good taste to stop the music," said West. Quickly enough, it did - and the crowd applauded.
He continued, speaking to his mother: "I know you want me to be the number one artist in the world. And, Mama, all I'm going to do is keep making you proud." Holding his Grammy aloft, he added: "We run this."
My take was a little different from the article. Kanye was rambling, music started and he said something like 'Don't be playin' music on me'. The music continued, he wasn't happy, started talking about his Mama, and then said, "It would be in good taste to stop the music now." The music then stopped. IMO, his speech (before Mama) contained a lot of egotistical crap.
