Got home 5 hours ago - woke up an hour ago. An awesome show!! Many thanks to the Y'town Parrothead Club for the hospitality! We second the note about things in the parking lot we wish we hadn't seen..
Some folks should learn how to keep their clothes on..but it was a great time..always is with Buffett folk!! On to the next show, wherever that may be..
Phins Up !!

Ol' Jimmy must have brought the weather with him. With all the "doom & gloom" forecasts we were reading, it was sunny & bright for most of the day. Just a great, great day for everyone.
Does anyone else think that Jimmy & the Coral Reefers were in exceptionally good form last night? Interesting song selections, and Bubba seemed to be having a good time in front of the revved-up crowd.
And I agree with the assessment that there were definitely a few concert-goers who should have never taken their clothes off - YIKES!!!![graytard [smilie=graytard.gif]](./images/smilies/graytard.gif)

Yup, a little more parking lot nudity than usual,
, but a great day and evening for a concert. With the lousy weather reports coming in, it was instead a gorgeous afternoon, and Jimmy even commented on the beautiful sunset over the lawn section at PGP. There were some unusual music selections making the concert even more interesting and definitely keeping our attention. All in all, a fun time!

PGH. POST-GAZETTE CONCERT REVIEW:
Concert Review: Buffett takes his Parrotheads to the beach
Wednesday, July 23, 2008
By Justin Jacobs
Pittsburgh is way away from any real beach, but you wouldn't have known that from Jimmy Buffett's elaborate stage setup Tuesday night.
With faux-fire tiki torches, giant palm trees and bright, natural lighting, along with Buffett playing barefoot, the show felt a lot like you might imagine a Buffett beach party would be like ?? except instead of an ocean of water, there was wave after wave of happily dancing fans. About 23,000 of them, in fact, as last night's show was a sellout. Not bad for a slight, giddy 61-year-old who's been touring on the same material, more or less, for years now.
Still, for Parrotheads and those not wearing Hawaiian shirts alike, the show was certainly entertaining.
Buffett played without an opening act, but, really, the hours of tailgaiting (think kiddie pools, full food buffets and more margaritas than you can possibly imagine) proved plenty of pre-show excitement, leading to a crowd not only pumped to see him swim through his classic tunes, but also, in some cases, pumped that they could still stand by the time the show rolled around.
At around 8:10, Buffett entered the impressive stage to booming elation wearing just a loose T-shirt and Hawaiian-print shorts ?? the ultimate in ready-to-chill attire ?? and quickly dove into his first set, including consistently rousing versions of his hits "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes," "Fruitcakes" and "It's Five O'Clock Somehwhere."
His band, the Coral Reefers, were predictably tight ?? they've been doing this rotation of tunes summer after summer ?? and retained sublime, subdued countenances that, behind any other front man, might've seemed out of place. But with Buffett leading the way, and playing to an audience doing quite the same, the sly grins and slowly rocking Coral Reefers were the perfect house band.
"We're all in this together from here on in," he giggled towards the end of the first set before launching into "Cheeseburger in Paradise," which he played on a shark-shaped guitar.
"Certain smells are driftin' across the wind. Burgers from that side, some good reefer from over here ?? oh yea, we know where we are."
Like any Parrothead could tell you, Buffett's second set (after a short break) was even more laid-back and, to my pleasant surprise, more musical. The Coral Reefers flexed some musical muscle with piano, guitar and steel drum solos tucked conveniently into many of the songs.
But by the time Buffett hit it with "Volcano," the momentum was rebuilt and the crowd was about to blow ?? and that it did, carrying the band towards a fantastically fun, if not unexpected, finale of "Margaritaville."
Buffett barely waited five minutes before returning for his short encore, which included an appropriately more exotic-sounding Dylan cover ?? "Rainy Day Women #12 and 35" -- even though Buffett introduced it with "Let's take it back to the '70s!" (The song was released in '66).
Even so, a Jimmy Buffett show may be the only place in the world where you'd get to hear thousands of drunk babyboomers in Hawaiian shirts dance like mad yelling, "Everybody must get stoned!"

We'll be bringing the family for a vacation in the Burgh, Aug. 14-17th. Kennywood, the Zoo, maybe Sandcastle and/or the Natural History Museum.

My daughter is interning at the Zoo this summer. She is loving it.

Did you ride up on the bus with the Youngstown Parrothead Club? I agree with everyone that some people should just keep their clothes on, even though I had a pretty humorous experience with one lady.MrsOver40ClevePirate wrote:Got home 5 hours ago - woke up an hour ago. Hi all! I got into bed at 1am an out at 7am for work at 9am...just got home!
Great concert GREAT weather...especially the fact other parts of the city got douced with rain and some places hail!
Agreed some people should 1) stay dressed 2) not wear binkinis... JUST because it is in your size is not a suggestion to buy it!
I have photos i have to download from my phone, will not be the best quality.
Thrilled I could meet up with ol' Bners: caly & hoodrat, Marty & Mo, Joeybagadonuts (& MRS) and Orion...met new ones: Karpro (wife and 2 virgins), GumboPirate, Big John, laura okay who am I missing.... (edits)PghPH (evan & Kathy)... I THINK I met the over 40 crew...of course warmsugar and Julie
Weather here is beautiful right now!!! we had a storm go through and last about 30-45mins, been cool and sunny ever since.
Okay off to the farm see you all later!

I second that about people keeping their clothes on. There were people who were encouraging it who were just as bad. My wife and I were waking and a guy pulls her over and says spin the wheel. Maybe you'll win, or maybe I'll win. She spun this wheel and landed on "Flash or cash". He says, "now flash me". I looked at him and said no f#@%&n way! He got p***! My wife, the quick thinker that she is said "give me the camera". She took it and took his picture with a flash. She flashed him. He got what he asked for.the good fight wrote:Did you ride up on the bus with the Youngstown Parrothead Club? Mr. Over40 and I were both there with the Y'town club on bus #2 with Cap'n Drew. Had a great time with a real fine group of pholks. Looking forward to next year and hanging out (but not literally like some folks we saw....
). The wheel needs a spot that says.."Put 'em away"... do you remember the pirate guy with the topless woman in tow??
Then you would understand the new spot on the wheel next year..
Thanks again for a great time, everyone !! Phins up!

Anyone see the woman on top of van roof slapping her bare breasts?
Hard enough you could hear each slap! That was gross. Was glad to see no BN tags in that group unless they hid them. Julie & I had best 2 days ever.
Saturday I had first accident... backed into a friends bumper while in my yard. The concert cheered me up only to find Tues night Julie's hubby hit my car while in her driveway! Same area as first bump.
Gotta roll with the punches...... can't wait until next yr which will be even better.
